Background / History

Windbreath Village and Transmigration

Lu Yang retains memories of a previous life spent in peaceful times, where he had little opportunity to fight. His knowledge of the original Douluo Continent story gives him advance awareness of important people, resources, and future dangers, but he conceals knowledge that would be implausible for a rural child 9 18 22.

An orphan, he was raised collectively by Windbreath Village’s households. The villagers fed him alongside their own children and shared meat with him during festivals. After gaining Qian Renxue’s support, he requested money to improve their lives rather than asking only for personal cultivation benefits 18.

Nuoding Academy

Su Yuntao recommended Lu Yang to Nuoding Academy despite failing to recognize his Martial Soul’s potential. His innate full soul power impressed Dorm Seven’s residents, and he became its boss, though he later showed no interest in defending the title against Xiao Wu 1 7.

Yu Xiaogang repeatedly sought to recruit him, proposing a light-based control path and later a combined control-and-support configuration. Lu Yang refused because he recognized Ra as a divine Martial Soul and distrusted Yu’s understanding. When the academy delayed his soul-hunting application, he approached Spirit Hall instead 1 2.

With Su Yuntao’s assistance, Lu Yang survived an encounter with two thousand-year birds and absorbed the mutant’s ring as his first. Back at the academy, he trained with Xiao Wu, defeated the noble students bullying the work-study group, and countered Tang San’s Blue Silver Entanglement with fire 4 5 9 11 12 14.

His thousand-year first ring directly contradicted Yu Xiaogang’s asserted 423-year limit. Yu’s growing interest in investigating the ring came too late: Lu Yang withdrew from the academy and departed under Porcupinefish Douluo’s escort 15 16.

Qian Renxue’s Patronage

Qian Renxue arranged Lu Yang’s transfer to Heaven Dou City after learning that Bibi Dong intended to leave him available for Yu Xiaogang’s instruction. She provided lodging, servants, improved meals, and access to She Long’s guidance. Lu Yang recognized that the servants also monitored him 13 17 18.

After his second soul hunt, Qian Renxue retained him in Heaven Dou City for private education rather than sending him to an academy where rival factions might notice his talent. His training expanded to pharmacology and practical combat under She Long and Ci Xue 21 23.

Medical Studies and the Third Soul Hunt

Lu Yang quickly exhausted much of his first pharmacology tutor’s knowledge. Qian Renxue then arranged for him to study with Ye Qingling through her Xue Qinghe identity. At the Ye Family clinic, he befriended Ye Lingling, researched whale rubber, and met Dugu Yan 23 24 25 26 29.

He joined Dugu Yan’s third-ring expedition partly to establish contact with Dugu Bo. During the hunt, he independently killed the Sunflare Golden-Winged Sparrow; absorbing its ring caused Ra to unfold and release divine pressure witnessed by the group and the hidden She Long 30 33 34.

After returning, Qian Renxue formally revealed that she was impersonating Xue Qinghe. Lu Yang, who already knew the truth, acted surprised and requested records concerning immortal-grade herbs. She agreed to investigate and moved him into the Crown Prince’s Residence under closer supervision 24 36.

His gratitude extends beyond words: he seeks financial help for the villagers who raised him and intervenes when noble students threaten his peers. He also respects Ye Lingling’s discomfort with strangers rather than forcing an immediate friendship 11 12 18 25.
