The point where Lin Chen's world diverged from Future Trunks's-or Prince Trunks's-world was when Frieza had prepared to destroy Planet Vegeta all those years ago.
There was no Lin Chen in Prince Trunks's world, but someone else had discovered Frieza's plot ahead of time and made his own choice.
That man was Bardock.
Just as in Lin Chen's world, Bardock in Prince Trunks's world had gained precognition during the invasion of Planet Kanassa, after being struck by the Phantom Demon Fist of Duarlo, a warrior who had narrowly survived.
Unlike the Bardocks of many parallel worlds, however, this world's Bardock had not dismissed the prophetic visions he saw. Instead, he had realized that these might be events that would truly happen in the future and decided to act to change that future.
As chance would have it, Bardock's strategy had been almost identical to Lin Chen's.
Before Frieza arrived on Planet Vegeta, Bardock had challenged King Vegeta for the throne.
With the battle power he had gained through years of life-and-death struggles, Bardock had easily defeated the pampered King Vegeta and become the new King of the Saiyans.
Then, on his orders, all the Saiyans had lain in ambush on Planet Vegeta. When the Frieza Force arrived, they had suddenly transformed into Great Apes together and killed the arrogant Frieza before he could react and transform.
Up to that point, the history of Prince Trunks's world had been almost identical to that of Lin Chen's. Although Lin Chen did not exist in his world, the Saiyans had likewise freed themselves from Frieza's control.
Immediately afterward, however, the two worlds had begun to develop in drastically different directions.
In Lin Chen's world, under his guidance, the Saiyans had gradually embarked on the path of defending peace.
