Hiruzen Sarutobi personally retrieved the notes left behind by the Fourth Hokage.
They were not a complete file.
They were a volume of mission excerpts sealed inside the Hokage's secure cabinet.
Minato Namikaze's handwriting was neat.
Even the few notes he had added after battles revealed how he formed his judgments.
First, he recorded the facts.
Then, the uncertainties.
Only then did he write down his conjectures.
As Gen read the excerpts, he gained a little more insight into the late Hokage.
Many people in Konoha missed Minato.
But what they missed was often the Yellow Flash's speed, his gentle smile, and his sacrifice on the Night of the Nine-Tails.
What could truly save lives, however, were these calm records that had been sealed away.
Hiruzen Sarutobi placed the excerpts on the table.
"You may only read this section."
Fugaku nodded.
"That will be enough."
The excerpts contained three passages concerning spatial anomalies.
The first came from Kannabi Bridge.
Minato had written that after the battlefield collapsed, there had been a momentary distortion of chakra, as though an outside force had tugged at a localized section of space.
The second came from his observations after the Sharingan transplant.
Kakashi had suffered severe rejection, but the Sharingan occasionally produced unstable ripples of chakra.
The third came from the Night of the Nine-Tails.
Minato had concluded that the way the attacker appeared resembled neither an ordinary Body Flicker Technique nor Flying Thunder God.
Flying Thunder God relied on technique formulas to pinpoint a location.
That man's movements, however, were more like briefly separating himself from the outside world.
With those sentences laid out on paper, no one in the conference room spoke immediately.
They were simply too clear.
Too clear to dismiss as the Uchiha merely making claims on their own behalf.
