"Several thousand years..."
Xu Yang and Sun Tao were both startled by that staggering number.
In all of vast Cloud Province City, there were only a handful of Millennium Families. For the Jiang Family to have survived for thousands of years, its bloodline must have played an enormous part.
Looking across Cloud Province, the Jiang Family was probably the oldest lineage of all.
"Bloodlines really are terrifying things," Sun Tao sighed.
In the beginning, every member of the Jiang Family had probably been able to awaken their bloodline, making each of them a genius on par with a Spirit Bone Prodigy. The mere thought of such a sight was frightening.
"There are benefits, but drawbacks too. In the first few generations, everyone in our Jiang Family really was a genius on par with a Spirit Bone Prodigy. But once our bloodline grew thin, it became the Jiang Family's shackles.
"In lineages without a bloodline, a Spirit Bone Prodigy or a genius with perfect bone root and comprehension will emerge every few generations. But because of our bloodline, our descendants always have A-grade bone roots, stuck in that awkward position between the heights and the depths," Jiang Fan said wistfully.
An entire lineage with A-grade bone roots would have been a sign of ancestral graves billowing auspicious smoke in some small place. But somewhere like the Marquis's Residence, it was undoubtedly a disaster.
Their ceiling was locked in place. They could only watch helplessly as their lineage declined little by little.
Knock, knock...
Xu Yang was just about to offer Jiang Fan a few words of comfort when someone knocked on the courtyard gate.
He went over and opened it to find Lu Ren and several other members of Junior Class A.
"Congratulations, Brother Xu," they said with smiles.
