I've recently been planning to write a side story. I haven't settled on a theme yet, but it'll probably run to a little over ten thousand Chinese characters. The community manager will post a poll in the reader community, so you can head over and vote.
The book has now entered its final stretch, and I'd also like to pick up the pace of the plot and bring it to a close sooner.
I've read the criticisms readers have raised, including the overly complicated setting, too many characters, a muddled main plot, unclear payoffs, and flat depictions of relationships and emotions.
I'm aware of these problems too, but the book has already passed 2.6 million Chinese characters, and it's hard to make fundamental changes at this point. This also comes down to my lack of skill and experience, and my limited understanding of webnovel writing.
I've been writing this book for over a year now. Last year, while following the updates for Mystic Mirror, I had a sudden idea and posted an opening straight away, which led to a contract. That I've managed to keep writing until now is something of a miracle, considering I had no writing experience whatsoever before this.
Looking back now, there were quite a few problems, including a poor title and opening. The fact that anyone read it at all was entirely thanks to riding Mystic Mirror's wave of popularity, so I'd like to thank Brother Ji here for opening his work up to others.
