The air in the passage was stifling.
Metal fragments crunched underfoot.
The passage ahead grew considerably wider, and intricate ancient murals appeared on the walls on both sides.
They all depicted scenes of people worshipping enormous monsters.
Ging held up a powerful flashlight, recording what he saw as he walked.
"These murals record the decline of an ancient civilization."
Ging pointed to a painting on the wall.
"They seem to have been fleeing some even more terrifying natural disaster."
Cheadle adjusted her glasses.

Ging spoke gravely.

"If we force it open, we could trigger the ruins' Self-Destruct Device."
Cheadle adjusted her glasses.
"How long will it take us to decipher that frequency?"
Ging rubbed his chin.
"Three days at the earliest."
"And that's already lightning fast."
The expedition members looked grim upon hearing that.
Three days.
Spending three days in ruins on the Dark Continent was practically dancing on a knife's edge-and doing disco, at that.
Who knew what other horrors might turn up?
"Three days?"
