The Ōtsutsuki Homeworld assigned Ōtsutsuki Isshiki to carry out missions with a fellow clan member, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.
Ōtsutsuki Isshiki noticed something very strange. He could clearly sense that Kaguya's standing was no lower than his own, perhaps even higher, yet she was not particularly welcome on the Ōtsutsuki Homeworld.
Even in their assigned partnership, he was given more authority than she was.
Isshiki found this arrangement strange. Within the Ōtsutsuki clan, birth determined status. Someone like Isshiki, who had climbed the ranks through his own efforts, could never compare to someone like Kaguya.
Yet the Homeworld's arrangement made no sense. What were they playing at?
Isshiki did not believe the people on the Homeworld had granted him authority because they recognized his talent.
He vaguely sensed a conspiracy behind it, but that was only a guess.
Then came their first mission together, on which Kaguya had to serve as the sacrifice.
When Isshiki presented the God Tree Fruit, brimming with energy, to the elders on the Homeworld, he saw the greed on their faces.
Isshiki felt as though he had stumbled upon some tremendous secret. But with his meager strength and low status, he did not dare say much.
Under Isshiki's watch, Kaguya slowly changed. Reincarnating through Kāma again and again, dying again and again, reviving again and again, she grew numb.
She had had enough of that life and wanted to change it.
As Kaguya's partner, Isshiki sensed the change in her the moment that thought arose.
She went from a lively, spoiled, rude, and fiercely prideful young lady to a cold, emotionless block of ice.
Over thousands of years, Isshiki witnessed Kaguya die and be reborn again and again. He felt great sympathy and pity for his fellow clan member, but reality was cruel. All he could do
