Code felt he had slept unusually well. For some reason, he suddenly woke up, feeling as though something was missing today. It seemed a little too quiet.

Normally, he could hear the Ten-Tails howling even in his sleep. Why had he slept so soundly today?

At that thought, Code seemed to remember something. He hurried to where the Ten-Tails was confined, only to find him still fast asleep.

Code let out a sigh of relief, but soon realized something was wrong. Didn't the Ten-Tails usually howl nonstop? Why was he suddenly so quiet today?

Something was wrong. Very, very wrong.

Code certainly didn't believe the Ten-Tails had worn himself out howling and decided to take a nap.

He acted without hesitation, transforming his hand into claws and stabbing straight at the Ten-Tails.

As expected, the unexpected happened.

The instant Code struck the Ten-Tails, the beast turned into white smoke and vanished.

Code was dumbfounded. He had woken up to find his whole world crashing down. The Ten-Tails was gone.

"Oh, shit. My world's falling apart."

Code dropped straight onto his backside, cold sweat pouring off him. If Jigen found out he had lost the Ten-Tails while guarding him, wouldn't he tear Code apart alive?

Code slapped his own head, forcing himself to calm down.

"Calm down, calm down. Just calm down already!"

Code crouched on the ground, roaring and helplessly pulling at his hair. He was falling to pieces. He had lost the Ten-Tails on his watch-how was he supposed to go back now? Lord Jigen had placed so much trust in him, and what had he done? Lost the Ten-Tails.

He broke down. Completely broke down. At that moment, Code was beside himself.

Suddenly, he seemed to remember something.

He remembered leaving his own claw marks on the Ten-Tails
