The strength-testing area fell terrifyingly silent.
That silence lasted a full two seconds. Then, with a roar, everyone's emotions exploded.
"Wait, what was that just now?"
"Did I hear that wrong? Ten thousand?"
"You did hear it wrong. It said ten thousand and fifty."
"How is that possible? The machine must be broken! How could anyone score ten thousand? I don't believe it."
"It has to be broken. The highest score we've had over here all this time is sixty. What kind of monster scores ten thousand?"
"Exactly! I've practiced martial arts for over ten years, and I only scored forty-eight. What the hell!"
"I told you it was rigged, but you wouldn't believe me."
It wasn't just the crowd losing its composure. The staff member handling the testing in the new lane jumped up as though his pants were on fire.
"W-what happened? Is it really broken? This machine is brand-new!" The young staff member checked the machine all over, then even punched it with all his might himself. It announced a score of twenty.
"There's nothing wrong with it, though. How strange."
Son Gohan leaned toward Trunks's ear. "Hey, keep your strength under control."
Trunks scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Uh, it was my first punch. I didn't know how much strength to use. It's hard to control!"
After finishing his inspection, the staff member told Trunks, "Sorry, the equipment malfunctioned just now. Please take the test again."
"Sure, okay," Trunks said, stepping up to the testing machine again.
Standing behind him with his arms folded, Vegeta grumbled, "What a pain."
Son Gohan came over to tell the others, "You need to control your strength too. A score of around a hundred is enough."
Trunks let out a deep breath, reined in his strength, and punched
