The two energy beams collided in the center of the Arena. Blinding light erupted, and terrifying shock waves blasted outward in every direction.
The Arena shook violently. Countless chunks of stone flew into the air, and ripples spread across the protective barrier surrounding the venue.
The two forces were almost evenly matched, locked in a deadlock in midair, neither able to overpower the other.
Zephyr clenched his teeth. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead, his muscles tightened, and veins bulged along his arms.
He desperately drove his energy harder. The blue beam swelled slightly in power, inching toward Onyx.
Onyx bent his knees and stood firm, his expression calm.
Even as his energy drained rapidly and his chest rose and fell, any strain-induced damage to his body was instantly repaired by his powerful regeneration. His energy kept replenishing as well, allowing him to hold firm against the assault.
After several seconds of deadlock, the two forces could no longer maintain their balance and exploded.
