The Sacred World of the Kai.
Son Gohan, the Supreme Kai, and Kibito flew side by side toward the place where the Z Sword was sealed.
Kibito flew in the middle with his hands clasped behind his back and said with a rather haughty expression:
"The Sacred World of the Kai is the holy land of the divine realm. Not even the King Kais or the Grand Kai have ever been here, let alone mortals. Mr. Gohan, you're the first mortal to come here."
Son Gohan smiled without a word, letting Kibito finish showing off. Otherwise, he would have felt terribly unsatisfied.
Besides, didn't that just make Gohan look even more impressive?
Flying on Kibito's right, the Supreme Kai said, "Kibito is right, but Gohan is no ordinary mortal."
Son Gohan flew on Kibito's left. He smiled and said, "Heh, the Sacred World of the Kai certainly lives up to its reputation as the Sacred Land of the Gods. The scenery is beautiful, there's an abundance of vital energy, and the land stretches endlessly. It's just a bit of a shame."
A shame?
What was a shame?
Kibito and the Supreme Kai were baffled.
The Supreme Kai voiced his confusion. "What's a shame?"
Son Gohan smiled. "There's so much land and so much vital energy, but it's all wilderness. Wouldn't it be great to farm here? With all that vital energy nourishing them, the crops would definitely taste amazing. Even if you raised animals, their meat would be sweeter and more flavorful. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water."
"Lord Supreme Kai, why not give it some thought?"
The Supreme Kai: ...
Kibito: ???
Was Son Gohan trying to persuade them to switch careers and become farmers and livestock breeders?
Come on, they were the illustrious Supreme Kai and his attendant.
They were the noblest, greatest gods in the universe.
He wanted them to farm? That joke wasn't funny at all.
The Supreme Kai replied awkwardly, "L-let's not."
"Ah, I knew it. That's why I said it's a shame. What a waste of such a wonderful place."
"Mr. Gohan, wouldn't farming in this holy land be blasphemy against the gods?" Kibito said.
"No, no, no. It's called expanding into a new business and making full use of your resources."
After they had flown for a little while, a vast lake appeared ahead.
A mountain peak stood in the middle of the lake, its summit rising dozens of meters above the water.
The three descended from the sky and landed on the summit.
The summit was small, only about five or six square meters, but it was flat and covered in grass.
Looking up, Son Gohan spotted the sealed Z Sword in the middle of the summit.
It was called the Z Sword, but only its hilt was exposed.
The entire blade was buried in the ground, with not a sliver visible.
They walked across the soft grass to the Z Sword.
The Supreme Kai pointed at the hilt and stated the obvious. "Mr. Gohan, this is the Z Sword."
Son Gohan crouched down, parted the grass, and examined it carefully.
The Supreme Kai continued, "This sword has been sealed here for over seventy-five million years. As far as I know, no one has ever managed to pull it out. Since you want this sword, Mr. Gohan, give it a try and see whether you can draw it."
"Legend has it that whoever draws the Z Sword will gain incomparably powerful strength and become the strongest warrior in the universe."
"If you can't pull it out, Mr. Gohan, you'll have to honor our agreement..."
Son Gohan made an okay sign and gazed at the Z Sword in wonder. "Seventy-five million years, and the hilt still looks brand-new. Seems Old Kai likes to keep things clean."
"What?" The Supreme Kai had no idea what he meant.
"All right, please step aside, both of you. I'll give it a try," Son Gohan said as he stood up.
"Yes, of course." The Supreme Kai and Kibito obligingly stepped aside, looking ready to enjoy the show.
Son Gohan knew he probably couldn't pull the sword out in his base form, so he wasted no time and transformed straight into a Super Saiyan.
With a boom, his hair turned golden and his eyes turquoise in an instant. His aura surged, whipping up a whirlwind around him.
"So this is a Super Saiyan?"
"What a powerful aura."
"It's not as strong as his Great Ape Transformation last night, but it's still incredibly powerful."
The two spectators couldn't help exclaiming in surprise.
This was their first time seeing a Super Saiyan.
They found it utterly fascinating.
Son Gohan grinned and planted his feet in front of the hilt.
He casually loosened up, then bent down, gripped the hilt firmly, and suddenly poured strength into both arms.
"Haaah!"
In just a second or two, the ground cracked, and the Z Sword rose more than twenty centimeters.
"This..." The Supreme Kai was stunned.
"How is that possible?" Kibito gaped.
The Z Sword, which no one had budged in tens of millions of years, was being pulled out just like that?
Couldn't he spare their dignity?
The Supreme Kai and Kibito felt as though they were dreaming. It was too unreal.
Without letting up, Son Gohan heaved upward with both arms and pulled the entire Z Sword free.
That was much easier than I expected.
Still, he had to admit that this sword was absurdly heavy.
If the sword the Supreme Kai had given Trunks weighed one unit, then this Z Sword probably weighed over ten thousand.
Even with Son Gohan's astonishing arm strength, swinging it wasn't all that easy.
"H-he really pulled it out. Unbelievable," the Supreme Kai said blankly, beginning to question everything he knew.
Kibito hurriedly asked, "Mr. Gohan, how is it? Can you feel that tremendous power?"
"No, but I can tell you this sword is seriously heavy," Son Gohan said frankly.
"How heavy can a sword be?" Kibito asked.
"Don't believe me? Why don't you try?" Son Gohan held the blade in one hand and offered it to Kibito with a teasing smile.
"All right, I'll give it a try." Kibito thought nothing of it and reached out to grasp the Z Sword's hilt.
Once Kibito had hold of the hilt, Son Gohan let go.
The Z Sword's enormous weight instantly bore down on Kibito's hand.
Kibito let out a scream of "Aah!" as the Z Sword slammed into the ground. The earth sank deep beneath it, and the entire mountain shuddered, looking ready to collapse at any moment.
Kibito's face turned pale. His arm had been dislocated outright.
The Supreme Kai was completely dumbfounded.
What kind of insane weight was that? This was ridiculous.
Kibito quickly cast a healing spell on himself, setting his arm back into place and restoring it to normal.
Staring at the Z Sword embedded in the ground, Kibito looked shaken and didn't dare try picking it up again.
A little heavy? His eyes were welling up.
Son Gohan smiled. "I told you it was a little heavy, but you didn't believe me."
As he spoke, he bent down and picked up the sword. Otherwise, it wouldn't be long before its weight crushed the mountain.
"Would you like to try too, Lord Supreme Kai?" Son Gohan asked, looking at him.
The Supreme Kai shook his head like a rattle. "N-no, that's all right. I won't."
Was he kidding? His strength was only about equal to Kibito's.
He had seen what had happened to Kibito. He had no desire to make a fool of himself next.
"Hahaha, all right." Son Gohan laughed, rested the sword on his shoulder, and continued:
"Lord Supreme Kai, I'd like to ask you something."
"What is it?"
Son Gohan pointed at the mountain beneath their feet. "If you couldn't pull the sword out, why didn't you try blowing up this mountain? Wouldn't the sword come free once the mountain was gone?"
The Supreme Kai shook his head. "That wouldn't work, Mr. Gohan.
"One of our predecessors already thought of that, but a magic formation was placed in this lake to protect the Z Sword.
"The moment anyone tries to destroy this mountain by force, the lake attacks."
"Oh, so that's why," Son Gohan said, taken aback.
He stared in surprise at the vast lake beneath them, never having imagined it concealed such a secret.
