The Forward Base had fallen, and their mission had changed to holding their position and awaiting further orders from the Command Center.
When Yechen told everyone what had happened, disbelief spread across their faces.
"Captain, is that true?"
Yechen repeated the intelligence Yuna Kurozawa had given him.
At his words, his subordinates fell into a daze one after another. For a moment, a heavy silence hung over them.
Seeing this, Yechen said nothing more. Such sudden, devastating news was hard to accept. All he could give them was time to digest it.
After a long while, someone asked,
"Captain, what do we do next?"
"Until the Command Center issues new orders, we'll stay here and take on some of the defensive duties," Yechen replied directly.
Then he briefly explained the plan he and Yuna Kurozawa had agreed on. As for the specific assignments, he left those for them to discuss among themselves.
After saying his piece, Yechen was about to leave when something suddenly occurred to him. He pointed at Uchiha Wildfire and said,
"Come with me."
Uchiha Wildfire did not hesitate and hurried after Yechen.
The two left the Temporary Camp and arrived at another area. Wounded soldiers were everywhere, and members of the Medical Unit moved between the tents from time to time. This was clearly the Wounded Soldiers' Camp of the Northern Defense Line.
"Captain, what are we doing here?"
"I'm taking you to meet someone."
"Who...?" Uchiha Wildfire immediately perked up.
"You'll know when you see him."
With that, Yechen wasted no more words and headed straight toward a tent.
Who could the captain be taking me to meet?
That was what Uchiha Wildfire wondered.
He knew Yechen's temperament well. Though Yechen usually seemed easygoing, he was actually exceptionally aloof. Ordinary people rarely earned his regard.
