"Captain Nara, how did Kirigakure breach the Red Leaf Stronghold? As far as we know, they shouldn't have had that many troops to send there."
After a long silence, a Jonin asked the question.
The others nodded, wanting to know the reason as well.
"That's also why I called you all here. According to the latest intelligence, Kirigakure deployed the Six-Tails there."
"What?"
Everyone paled in shock. Before Nara Yue Guang could finish, another man spoke up.
"Aren't they afraid we'll throw caution to the wind and fight them to the death?"
They could hardly be blamed for being so shocked. Kirigakure's actions were simply too reckless.
Anyone with eyes could see that this Shinobi World War was nearly over. Next, the various sides would sit down and fight for leverage at the negotiating table.
But what had Kirigakure done?
Just as the war was about to end, they had dropped a nuclear bomb inside the Land of Fire.
If Konoha failed to retaliate now, not only would it have no answer for the people of the Land of Fire, but even the negotiations afterward would likely become impossible.
If Konoha did retaliate, however, the war would not end so soon. It might drag on indefinitely.
Then everything Konoha had done for peace would go to waste.
As a result, the Konoha High Command had now split into two factions.
The first was the pro-war faction led by Danzo. They proposed deploying the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki to retaliate in kind against Kirigakure and crush its arrogance.
The second was the pro-peace faction led by Hiruzen Sarutobi. They advocated playing down the incident and ending the war as soon as possible.
"This mission is critical. The Third Hokage hopes we can retake the Red Leaf Stronghold as soon as possible," Nara Yue
