"Clan Leader, was there something else you wanted from me?"
Yechen stopped and turned to ask him.
Only after everyone else had left did Uchiha Fugaku speak.
"I won't waste words. I asked you to stay because I have just one question."
"What is it?" Yechen replied.
Uchiha Fugaku wasted no time and went straight to the point.
"Do you have anything to do with the recent chaos in the village?"
At those words, Yechen frowned slightly and feigned confusion as he asked,
"Why would you ask that, Clan Leader?"
Uchiha Fugaku did not answer directly. Instead, he continued,
"If the village's intelligence is correct, the person causing this chaos should be the intruder who has been slipping in and out of Konoha over the past several months."
Yechen said nothing. He simply watched him, waiting for him to continue.
Sure enough, Uchiha Fugaku paused before going on.
"I heard you've had contact with him and even deduced that he might be a ninja from the Uchiha Clan. Do you know who he is?"
He knows quite a lot. Looks like Minato Namikaze has been keeping him well informed.
The thought flashed through Yechen's mind, but his expression did not change as he replied firmly,
"I don't."
Uchiha Fugaku remained silent for a long time, staring at Yechen. Finding nothing unusual in his expression, he finally sighed.
"Yechen, I know you have a mind of your own, but relations between the clan and the village have only just begun to improve. I hope you won't go down the wrong path."
Those words left Yechen somewhat confused.
What does he mean?
Is he worried I'll fall out with the village?
Or does he think I'm one of the hardliners too?
For a moment, Yechen was speechless.
Still, when he recalled accepting
