The first wave of resistance had proved ineffective. After weighing his options, Mano Taniguchi decided to change their approach and employ guerrilla tactics.
Their guerrilla tactics involved drawing the enemy into the mountain woods so the main force could retreat quickly, while they used the terrain to keep the enemy occupied.
Once they had opened up enough distance, the enemy would no longer dare pursue them. After all, this was behind Konoha's main camp, and reinforcements could arrive at any moment. A reckless pursuit was too risky. The Rock Ninja were no fools; they would never take a losing proposition.
Once the order was given, the interception force split into several groups and scattered into the mountain woods.
Before long, fighting broke out among the trees.
Meanwhile, three Iwagakure Chunin had come after Yechen.
This was exactly the situation he wanted-not because of those three Rock Ninja, but because once he was alone, the enemy lurking in the shadows might reveal himself. That was his real objective.
After running some distance, Yechen stopped. As he turned, his scarlet Sharingan stared straight at the three pursuers, as though they were prey that had delivered themselves to his doorstep.
Naturally, he had not activated his Sharingan right away just to deal with three Rock Ninja. He was searching for the enemy's hiding place.
The Byakugan was naturally superior when it came to detection, but Yechen would not readily reveal that he possessed its bloodline.
If others learned that he possessed both the Sharingan and Byakugan bloodlines, the entire Shinobi World would go mad over him. Assassination attempts would come one after another, and cultivating in peace would become all but impossible.
That was why Yechen would not reveal his Byakugan abilities unless he had absolutely no other choice.
