Ling's return was a shot in the arm for the increasingly anxious Konoha High Command. Tsunade's orders were swiftly carried out, and preparations began in earnest to establish a special rapid-response unit codenamed "Purifying Karma."
At the Training Ground under the Hokage's direct authority, Ling, Yamato, Kakashi, and several selected core members gathered. Among them were Neji Hyuga, whose Byakugan provided indispensable insight into energy flows; Aoba Yamashiro, an expert in Sealing Jutsu and barriers whose chakra nature leaned toward Yang Release; and two jōnin skilled in Fire Release and Lightning Release, both with fine chakra control. Preliminary tests had shown that these two attributes had some suppressive effect on the contaminated energy.
Ling stood before them and went straight to the point without any pleasantries. He extended his hand, and a faint but exceptionally pure wisp of chakra hovered above his palm, mimicking the fungal mat's cold, corrosive energy.
"This simulates the properties of the contaminated energy from the 'Sacred Lord,' as we currently understand them," Ling said, his voice calm and clear. "Its primary threats are corrosion, assimilation, and mental distortion."
With a slight shift of his intent, another stream of azure pure water chakra, carrying the fluctuations of senjutsu, flowed from his fingertips and coiled around the simulated cold energy like a nimble snake.

With a faint sound, the wisp of cold energy rapidly dissolved as though it had met its natural enemy. It was purified, then vanished without a trace, leaving only a refreshingly clean aura.
"Our goal is to use similar powers, or tactics that can effectively counter it, to fight, purify, and ultimately eradicate it." Ling looked around at them.
