A Date with Zombies

The water, the lake, the bright moon, and the cold glow emanating from the stone table—it was a truly enchanting scene.

But the increasingly distinct howls, the rustling of zombies crawling out of their graves, sent chills down their spines. Even the cool-toned lighting had taken on an unsettling hue in this atmosphere.

The thick scent of curry and the fiery warmth spreading through their bodies barely managed to dispel the discomfort.

It had been nearly an hour since they had eaten. The magic on the plates kept the curry steaming hot, and surprisingly, as more and more zombies awakened, their foul stench still had not drifted over.

"Ah, we're not going to spend the whole night at this stone table, are we? Even if there's food."

"We can eat while watching zombies, sure, but that's way too boring. My wand's practically rusting!" Kate fidgeted restlessly.

"Come on, follow me first!" Ryan took Kate's hand and stepped onto the seemingly calm lake surface.

"How is this possible?" Kate exclaimed, hopping up and down on the water.

"This lake is home to many Remora Fish. With the magic of so many fish at work, even if they aren't forming a bridge like before, we can still walk on it as if it were solid ground without casting any extra magic," Ryan explained.

"This was covered in the manual inside the dragon's belly too."

"There was a manual? I didn't read it," Kate replied without the slightest shame.

"Besides, wouldn't it be boring if we read all the guides?"

When they returned to the wooden cabin and looked to the right, they saw countless specks of green light, like fireflies dancing in the night.

Looking closer, they realized they were zombie eyes.

"So these are the romantic fireflies mentioned in the manual?"
