High Ponytail wore expressions and made gestures utterly unlike his usual ones, looking stiff and awkward.
The Red Maple Immortal Lord flew onto the raised platform holding the offerings, casually picked up an apple, and tossed it in the air before taking a crunchy bite.
"Quite sweet."
The guide was overwhelmed by the honor. "As long as you like it, Red Maple Immortal Lord."
He sat casually on the platform, leaning against the maple tree being worshipped, and ate as though no one else were there, seemingly having forgotten Su Jiu's question.
Su Jiu did not disturb him. Instead, she took the opportunity to examine the maple tree on the offering platform.
The maple tree did not look very large, but this clearly was not its true form.
In her estimation, it had been growing for at least a thousand years.
"This is your true body, isn't it?"
The Red Maple True Lord's hand paused around the fruit, and a faint trace of surprise appeared on his face.
He casually tossed the half-eaten fruit behind him, worked his mouth quickly to swallow the remaining flesh, then finally turned a serious gaze on Su Jiu.
"Little girl? Your powers of observation aren't bad. When did you start suspecting?"
"Before we entered the city," Su Jiu said evenly.
The Red Maple True Lord looked at her in amazement. "Should I say you live up to your reputation as people from the Enforcement Hall? You actually knew that early."
"Since you know I'm from the Enforcement Hall, you should know how capable we are at gathering information.
"Then again, you're no slouch either. We never revealed our identities after entering the city, yet you identified me the moment you saw me. I imagine you knew about us long ago."
