The moment Su Jiu and Purple Ultimate left the formation, a pack of wandering ghosts surrounded them.
These wandering ghosts seemed to have been lurking near the formation, waiting for prey to emerge so they could swarm it and devour every scrap.
Their hopes were beautiful, but the outcome was destined to disappoint them.
Though the wandering ghosts closing in were vicious, they seemed to possess little intelligence. Instinct told them these were bodies of edible flesh and blood, but they lacked the capacity to consider whether their prey was someone they could afford to provoke.
And so, the following scene unfolded.
Purple Ultimate, beside Su Jiu, transformed into a streak of blue light, weaving through the wraiths at a speed pushed to the absolute limit.
In little more than a dozen breaths, most of the ring of wraiths closest to Su Jiu had dispersed.
The vengeful ghosts naturally tried to fight back. Some of the slightly cleverer ones even set their sights on Su Jiu, who had remained motionless all this time.
Su Jiu glanced at the few vengeful ghosts preparing to pounce from a tricky angle and knitted her brows slightly. Quite casually, she brought her index and middle fingers together and swiftly traced a rune in midair.
Just as they lunged at Su Jiu together, her rune was ready.
The two sides met head-on.
In an instant, the rune corroded the three vengeful ghosts into three wisps of smoke, which then vanished completely into the gloomy woods.
After so many of their kind had died, even the dim-witted vengeful ghosts slowly realized something: these two were probably not opponents they could afford to provoke.
Knowing they could no longer win, they naturally had to flee.
