Hong Hao borrowed a hundred from Chu Ting, enough to cover his lodging for the night and his dinner. He was relieved that he finally no longer had to fill his stomach with something as paltry as egg fried rice.
"Princess Chu really is as kindhearted as she is beautiful." In a good mood, Hong Hao was happy to offer a few flattering words to coax a smile out of Chu Ting.
Chu Ting smiled happily, completely unaware that her brother's brows were nearly twisted into a knot.
Even as she spoke, Chu Ting did not forget to glance toward Su Jiu out of the corner of her eye.
As for Su Jiu, she naturally paid no attention to what Chu Ting was doing. At that moment, she was blinking her large eyes, staring in surprise at the food of this world.
Xia Yao followed Su Jiu's gaze. "You want cream cake? That's high-calorie food. Eating it at night is the easiest way to gain weight."
His tone clearly carried disapproval.
But was Su Jiu the sort of person who would refrain from doing something just because someone disapproved?
She glanced at the price tag on the cake and held out her hand. "Lend me a hundred."
The corner of Xia Yao's mouth twitched, and resignation seemed to cross his face. Still, he obediently handed over a banknote. "Su Jiu, losing weight is really hard. I'd advise you to think twice before-"
Before he could finish, Su Jiu handed over the banknote and took four cream cakes in different flavors.
The rest of Xia Yao's sentence lodged straight in his throat.
"One slice would have been bad enough, but you're eating four!"
Meanwhile, Su Jiu had already taken the cakes, broken off a piece, and popped it into her mouth.
