The instant Su Jiu saw Little Green appear in her sea of consciousness, she understood what it meant.
Little Green had succeeded, had achieved the intended goal.
And she had arrived a step too late after all.
"A Jiu, I'm actually quite happy. After all, I never thought you would come back, or that I would get to see you one last time. So I suppose Heaven has been rather kind to me."
"I'm sorry, truly sorry for hiding things and lying to you. But whenever I thought of how your temper and character would inevitably lead you to stop me, I didn't dare tell you the truth. I couldn't let you become a sinner condemned by the entire Azure Realm."
Su Jiu sighed softly and took another two steps closer, bitterness and helplessness touching the corners of her lips. "So you chose to shoulder all of this alone, chose to sacrifice yourself?"
Little Green remained calm. "Sacrifice? I wouldn't really call it that. After all, my energy will still remain inside the Vermilion Bird, won't it? Besides, all of this was decided from the beginning."
Su Jiu fell silent. So it really had been decided from the very beginning...
In the space of those few brief exchanges, the green light orb before her seemed to have faded considerably. Su Jiu knew Little Green probably had little time left.
She had thought she would have so much to say to Little Green. Yet only now did she suddenly realize that perhaps those questions were not so important to either of them.
After all, everything had been planned, decided long ago. What could she possibly say?
Question Little Green in anger? Or pour out her grief through tears?
There was no need anymore...
