She discovered that the shell houses in this little village were practically Magical Artifacts in their own right, actually preventing cultivators' Divine Sense from penetrating them. She also discovered an interesting formation in the village chief's backyard, in what appeared to be an extremely secluded spot.
This formation differed from those commonly used by human cultivators. Although it also had formation patterns, several paper talismans hung above it. Few people in the outside world probably still knew of this kind of formation.
It was a formation commonly used by Heretical Cultivators: the Spirit-Transfer Formation, which transferred another person's Cultivation Level to oneself. Of the three paper talismans floating above it, one had turned completely black, while the other two looked as though they had only recently been placed there.
These paper talismans only worked in pairs. One hovered above the Spirit-Absorption Formation Arts, while the other had to be slapped into the body of the person whose spiritual power was being drained.
Turning completely black meant that the victim's Cultivation Level had been drained dry.
Su Jiu pressed her lips together. There were only a handful of cultivators with any Cultivation Level in this village. Silver light swirled in her eyes as she looked at the two people beside her, and she quietly breathed a sigh of relief only after finding nothing unusual in their bodies. But her expression soon tightened again. The black talisman clearly belonged to Jiao Chen, while the other two very likely belonged to Mo Qi
