The Yu Household's little great-grandchild, Yu Xiaoyu, had just turned six. Not long ago, he had been tested and found to possess a single wind spirit root.
Yet just a few days after the test, he had disappeared.
The lineage had immediately sent Yu Jin to investigate. After all, he was all but confirmed as the next Yu Household Head. The current head had personally raised and trained him; he had both the means and the ability, and was currently the person the head trusted most.
But clever as Yu Jin was, his trail had gone cold once he reached Flowing Moon City.
Only after meeting Su Jiu had he finally tracked the boy here.
When he had not seen Yu Xiaoyu in the first cage, he had felt relieved. But when the boy was absent from the second cage too, he had begun to panic.
Fortunately, someone had seen Yu Xiaoyu and pointed him in the right direction.
The passage was long, lined on both sides with empty cages. Only when he reached its far end did he see the final cage.
The farther he went, the darker it became, until almost no light remained at the end. Fortunately, as a cultivator, he could see through the darkness.
What he saw now was a tiny figure curled silently in a corner.
Seemingly hearing approaching footsteps, the little head lifted slightly, revealing a face covered in wounds.
Yu Jin's pupils contracted, and a savage aura radiated from him. But thinking of his little nephew, he still called softly, "Xiaoyu? Your Seventh Uncle is here to save you."
The tiny figure stiffened slightly, then asked with cautious uncertainty, "Seventh Uncle?" Because Xiaoyu was so young, his voice was especially sweet and tender, yet Yu Jin could hear the fear in it.
