Seven years had passed. It was time to go home for a look.
The day before she was due to leave Ice Veil Peak, Chu Mojin returned.
From his travel-worn appearance, he seemed to have hurried back specifically for her. He looked rather disheveled, his hair tousled by the wind, with no time yet to tidy it.
As Chu Mojin looked at Su Jiu, who had already reached Foundation Establishment, a trace of gratification crossed his face.
Seeing that she had changed out of her Sect Robes into ordinary clothes, he asked, "Are you getting ready to leave?"
Su Jiu replied, "I want to go home first, then visit a few other places."
He handed Su Jiu a Storage Ring and a Storage Bracelet, then sighed softly. "In the blink of an eye, even you have grown up."
For the first time, Chu Mojin showed something of the bearing of a Peak Master. With utter seriousness, he said, "I have always had confidence in you. But when you're out in the world, you must never let down your guard against others. You're still young, and there may be many things you don't yet understand. Sometimes, the human heart is actually more frightening than demonic cultivators. Out in the world, what you see may not be true, and what you hear may not be true either. Only your heart will not deceive you. Whatever you encounter, think it over carefully."
As her master, Chu Mojin had almost never taught her anything. Yet whenever she encountered a problem, he always learned of it immediately and helped her find a solution. He was also so generous with resources that she had once suspected what she held in her hands
