Ming Yun's lips curved slightly. She opened her palm and extended it a little, and the Bright Lamp appeared above it, burning with an ink-green flame.
At first, the lamp was only as large as her palm. After Ming Yun recited an incantation, it abruptly transformed into a normal-sized lantern. Only that wisp of green flame remained unchanged.
This lamp was, of course, no ordinary magic treasure. It leaned more toward being an underworld artifact.
Ordinary cultivators generally would not use such a thing. Heretical cultivators, however, favored it.
That was simply because its methods of killing were far too cruel for humanity to tolerate.
When Li Yishi first saw this magic treasure, he had suggested that Ming Yun replace it. Only after she promised never to use it lightly, except under special circumstances, had he softened for the first time.
Yet he had never imagined that he would see it a second time.
"Didn't you promise me? Using a heretical cultivator's magic treasure too often damages your character!"
Little did he know that Ming Yun had long since lost any character worth speaking of.
Ming Yun frowned slightly. If Li Yishi had not still been useful, she would have cast him aside long ago. How would he ever have had the chance to stand before her, pointing fingers and telling her what to do? Her patience with him dwindled a little further.
Ming Yun pointed at the cave ahead. "That is our final destination. But a barrier surrounds this cave, and I need to use the lantern to open it. What, did you not notice the barrier?"
The rims of Li Yishi's ears reddened slightly. Naturally, he had sensed the barrier's presence. He simply had not expected Ming Yun to bring out this magic treasure to break through it.
