Su Jiu had not expected the four of them to be teleported into a room strewn with skeletal remains.
A quick glance revealed more than a dozen sets of remains.
They had long since dried out, and some would crumble to pieces at the slightest touch.
Judging by their positions, most of these people had died sitting cross-legged on the floor, regulating their breathing. There was no telling what they had experienced in life to end up like this.
Although remains littered the floor, one small patch was clean, without a single skeleton. Su Jiu could sense that, despite the lack of remains there, its concentration of spiritual qi was distinctly different from elsewhere.
Yet although that patch of floor was clean, a very shallow fissure ran through it.
Aside from the skeletal remains, the furnishings in the room also looked exceedingly old.
The bed, dressing table, and curtains made it look rather like a woman's bedchamber.
Still, even leaving the remains aside and treating it simply as a woman's bedchamber, the room seemed a little too spacious.
Su Jiu extended her divine sense. Since the room was not large, she enveloped it entirely within her perception in an instant.
The spiritual qi in the room was thin, with only a few spots where it was slightly denser.
Clearly, there was something wrong with this distribution of spiritual qi. Perhaps the people on the floor had even died because of it. In any case, caution could do no harm.
After entering, the four of them maintained a tacit silence.
Rather than disturb one another, they each chose to investigate the room they now occupied.
Once everyone had more or less finished examining it, Su Jiu spoke first. "There are seven spots where the spiritual qi is particularly dense."
