Ch. 301Two men scared out of their wits

While Doflamingo and Crocodile probed each other’s ambitions, a terrifying Haki overwhelmed their base and knocked Mr. 1 unconscious at the door. Realizing the visitor was waiting downstairs, Doflamingo persuaded Crocodile to accompany him to face the unknown threat.

  • Doflamingo questioned Crocodile about his plans for the desert kingdom, while Crocodile challenged Doflamingo’s interest in contacting the Beasts.
  • A tremendous Haki swept through the base, frightening Doflamingo and Crocodile.
  • Crocodile ordered Mr. 1 to investigate, but the visitor’s Haki knocked Mr. 1 unconscious as he opened the door.
  • Doflamingo realized Crocodile had not set a trap and invited him to confront the visitor downstairs.
  • Crocodile reluctantly agreed, and he and Doflamingo headed down the stairs together.

Ch. 302When facing me, this is where your eyes belong

Gern visited Doflamingo’s base with Dracule Mihawk, and Crocodile recognized the Marine Admiral who had crippled him years earlier. After Doflamingo provoked him, Gern overwhelmed him with Conqueror’s Haki and forced him to kneel.

  • Doflamingo and Crocodile descended the stairs to find Gern and Dracule Mihawk waiting on the sofa while the Donquixote Family officers cowered nearby.
  • Doflamingo assumed Mihawk had unleashed the Haki and greeted him, but Crocodile recognized Gern and revealed his identity to the room.
  • Gern stood and announced that he had come to speak with Doflamingo, then dismissed the time spent waiting for them to come downstairs.
  • Doflamingo complained that Gern would not look him in the face, and Gern replied that their eyes did not line up.
  • Gern focused his Conqueror’s Haki on Doflamingo, crushed his attempted resistance, and forced him to his knees.
  • Gern told the kneeling Doflamingo that this was where his eyes belonged, leaving the Donquixote Family and Crocodile stunned.

Ch. 303Impossible to believe

Gern used Mihawk’s intervention to stop the Donquixote Family from attacking and left Doflamingo and Crocodile stunned by the revelation that Mihawk followed him. Gern then invited Doflamingo to resume their interrupted conversation.

  • Diamante and Pica attacked Gern to save Doflamingo, but Mihawk struck them down with a single slash.
  • Mihawk warned the remaining Donquixote officers, Doflamingo, and Crocodile not to interfere with Gern.
  • Doflamingo and Crocodile realized that Mihawk had joined Gern’s ranks and reevaluated the threat Gern posed.
  • Gern turned back to Doflamingo and asked him to continue their conversation.

Ch. 304But What Could They Do If I Killed You?

Gern confronted Doflamingo and made clear that the World Government would not stop him from killing the former Celestial Dragon. Doflamingo launched a desperate attack, but Gern effortlessly destroyed it, leaving Doflamingo terrified and helpless.

  • Doflamingo tried to gauge Gern's intentions by questioning why an Admiral had come to the North Blue for him.
  • Gern warned Doflamingo that even if the World Government objected, it could do nothing if he killed him.
  • Doflamingo panicked and attacked Gern with Overheat and White Wave, hoping to create an opening to escape.
  • Gern blocked Overheat with a vibrating barrier and shattered Doflamingo's threads and the surrounding ground with a step.
  • Doflamingo realized the strength gap was insurmountable as Gern looked down at him with a cold, deadly gaze.

Ch. 305This kick was called memories!!

Gern effortlessly countered Doflamingo’s collapsing hideout, then intercepted Crocodile as he tried to escape and defeated him with a devastating kick. He left Dracule Mihawk behind and declared Crocodile dealt with.

  • Doflamingo collapsed the hideout to bury Gern and escaped toward the roof, but Gern pulverized the falling debris.
  • Crocodile attacked Gern with Desert Spada, but his sand blade passed through Gern’s Logia body and he fled as a sandstorm.
  • Gern told Dracule Mihawk to stay put and vanished with Tremor Flash, evading Mihawk’s slash.
  • Gern reappeared in front of Crocodile and said he would punish him without using Haki.
  • Gern struck Crocodile with a vibration-charged kick, sending him crashing through the hideout and into the first floor.

Ch. 306Silence

Gern pursued Doflamingo and nearly killed him with a vibration javelin, but Corazon intervened with the Calm-Calm Fruit and saved him. Gern recognized that Corazon could suppress his vibrations and said he had already achieved his goal.

  • Doflamingo ordered his allies to scatter and flee to Reverse Mountain, but Gern appeared in front of him and pierced his forehead with a vibration beam.
  • Doflamingo's apparent body unraveled into a string clone while the real Doflamingo escaped below.
  • Gern tracked Doflamingo and launched the Heavenquake: Divine Spear, pinning him in place as it closed in.
  • Corazon created a silent domain that neutralized the vibrations and allowed Doflamingo to escape.
  • Gern observed Corazon's Calm-Calm Fruit ability and concluded that he had achieved his goal.

Ch. 307It Worked

Gern explained how he had manipulated Doflamingo into trusting Corazon, while Hawk-Eye reported that Crocodile had escaped. Severely injured aboard a boat, Doflamingo believed Corazon had saved him through fate, and Corazon accepted that his plan had worked as the boat sailed toward Reverse Mountain.

  • Gern told Hawk-Eye that Doflamingo would interpret Corazon's rescue as proof of his loyalty and feel no suspicion.
  • Hawk-Eye revealed that Crocodile had escaped underground, and Gern praised him as “Evenly Matched.”
  • Doflamingo recovered on a boat, convinced Corazon's Calm-Calm Fruit had saved him from Gern's Divine Spear.

  • The boat carrying Doflamingo and Corazon sailed toward Reverse Mountain.

Ch. 308They could only obey "God's" orders.

Gern reported to Sengoku that his intervention on Dias Island had helped Rosinante while frightening Doflamingo and clashing with Crocodile, then ignored orders to return to G-10 and headed toward Orange Town. At Yakelo Kingdom, Enel confronted World Government agents who had shot the king while demanding the princess, declaring that the kingdom’s people would obey only his orders.

  • Gern told Sengoku that his actions on Dias Island had strengthened Rosinante’s standing, and Sengoku ordered him back to G-10 and forbade him from leaving without permission.
  • Gern ended the call and told Hawk-Eye that they would visit his old friend in Orange Town.
  • A CP Agent demanded that Yakelo’s princess be sent to Mary Geoise, then shot the king when he asked to consult G-10 Base.
  • Enel struck the World Government flag on the agents’ ship with lightning and appeared atop Yakelo’s capital tower.
  • Enel claimed Yakelo’s people were under his protection and warned the agents that they could only obey God’s orders.

Ch. 309God Cannot Be Killed

Enel confronted a Holy Knight and CP Agents who had come to take a woman requested by a Celestial Dragon, refusing to let them remove one of Gern’s subjects. The chapter ended with Enel taunting the knight and declaring that God could not be killed.

  • Enel appeared at the docks and destroyed the World Government’s flag, prompting the CP Agents to defer to the Holy Knight in the Ram Skull Mask.
  • A CP Agent explained Enel’s rank, powers, and service under Admiral Gern Reginald Sigma, and the Holy Knight recalled Gern’s past clash with Figarland.
  • The Holy Knight offered to respect G-10’s jurisdiction but insisted that the agents take the woman requested by a Celestial Dragon.
  • Enel blocked the Holy Knight’s departure with a lightning strike and rejected the World Government’s demand, claiming only God’s will was absolute.
  • The Holy Knight drew a massive scythe and warned Enel to step aside, but Enel tapped his mask with his staff and declared that God could not be killed.

Ch. 310I saw right through you

Enel used Conqueror’s Haki to knock out the CP Agents and Yakelo’s king and ministers, then dodged the God's Knight’s killing slash with his Observation Haki and lightning body. The God's Knight realized Enel could anticipate his thoughts and attacks, while Enel remained confident the fight was only mildly interesting.

  • Enel taunted the God's Knight and unleashed Conqueror’s Haki, knocking out the CP Agents, Yakelo’s king, and the ministers.
  • The God's Knight resisted Enel’s Haki and questioned how someone with Conqueror’s Haki could serve beneath Gern.
  • The God's Knight flashed behind Enel and struck with a fast scythe slash, but Enel used Mantra to open a gap in his lightning body and avoid the blow.
  • The God's Knight recognized Enel’s exceptional Observation Haki, and Enel mocked him for making his intentions and movements easy to read.
  • The God's Knight focused his aura and readied himself to continue fighting as Enel remained amused.

Ch. 311I saw right through you (II)

Enel used his speed, Observation Haki, and lightning powers to turn the fight against the Sheep-Skull-Masked God Knight into a one-sided ranged assault. The God Knight struggled to escape Enel’s lightning barrage and could no longer remain calm.

  • The Sheep-Skull-Masked God Knight attacked Enel with a rapid storm of scythe strikes, but Enel dodged each one by reading his movements with Mantra and Observation Haki.
  • Enel used the Rumble-Rumble Fruit to flash around the battlefield at lightning speed, leaving afterimages as the God Knight’s scythe cut through empty air.
  • Enel changed tactics, keeping his distance in the sky and using lightning serpents to block the God Knight’s escape routes.
  • Enel combined Mantra and Observation Haki to predict the God Knight’s possible movements, then struck those paths with successive pillars of lightning.
  • The God Knight dodged the lightning pillars but became trapped in Enel’s bombardment, panicked, and failed to understand how Enel kept anticipating him.

Ch. 312The Fuse

Enel fought a Holy Knight in a goat-skull mask until a second Holy Knight ambushed him with a Seastone bullet. Enel refused to retreat despite being badly wounded, and the account left his fate unknown before revealing the Holy Knights later abducted Jewelry Bonney.

  • The goat-skull-masked Holy Knight repeatedly charged Enel, but Enel evaded with Thunder Flash and struck back with lightning.
  • The goat-skull-masked knight summoned a hidden companion, who shot Enel in the shoulder with an Armament Haki-coated Seastone bullet.
  • The two Holy Knights demanded that Enel leave Yakelo Kingdom, but Enel refused and prepared to fight them both.
  • The account said Mamaragan and Raigo later annihilated Yakelo Kingdom, leaving Enel gravely wounded and his fate unknown.
  • The Holy Knights later ambushed and abducted Jewelry Bonney, commander of the Revolutionary Army's East Army.

Ch. 313The fuse was lit

After two God's Knights ambushed Enel in the Yakelo Kingdom and the kingdom vanished, Sengoku feared Gern's reaction and moved to contain the crisis. Kong warned that Sengoku would not be able to stop Gern, and Sengoku went to find Zephyr and Garp.

  • A G-10 subordinate told Sengoku that two God's Knights had ambushed Enel in the Yakelo Kingdom, which had vanished, and Enel's fate was unknown.
  • Sengoku summoned Kizaru and explained that Gern would retaliate for an attack on one of his people.
  • Sengoku sent Kizaru to G-10 to check on Enel and keep the base under control until Gern returned.
  • Sengoku called Kong, who warned that Sengoku would not be able to stop Gern and hoped G-10 had not told him yet.
  • Sengoku decided against going to Mary Geoise and went to find Zephyr and Garp.

Ch. 314Back to the New World

Enel lay near death at G-10 Base after a brutal attack, and Lipo used the life force of three pirates to stabilize him. After learning what happened, Gern abandoned his trip to Orange Town and ordered a return to the New World.

  • Bullet returned to the medical room with three defeated pirates and silently watched Enel as Lipo drained their life force to heal him.
  • Bullet waited outside the room, clutching his unused Den Den Mushi and burning with rage over Enel's condition.
  • Tesoro and Toritoma left to contact Gern after Enel's condition stabilized, and Tesoro reported the crisis.
  • Gern's cheerful mood vanished when he heard Tesoro's report, and he told Mihawk, "Back to the New World."

Ch. 315'Tyrant'

Kuma learned from Ginny’s note that she was carrying their child and demanded that Dragon immediately attack the World Government to rescue them. After Dragon fell silent, Kuma crushed the Den Den Mushi and called Gern for help, resolved to reclaim his family.

  • Dragon struggled with the decision to risk the Revolutionary Army’s forces to rescue Ginny, while more than ten days passed without a plan.
  • After a battle, Kuma found Ginny’s note revealing that she had a secret about “us,” and realized she was pregnant.
  • Kuma overcame his fear and called Dragon, demanding an immediate attack to rescue his wife and unborn child.
  • Dragon remained silent, so Kuma crushed the Den Den Mushi and chose to act without the Revolutionary Army’s support.
  • Kuma called Gern and asked him for help.

Ch. 316Only the Beginning

Sengoku asked Garp to stop Gern before his rage led to an irreversible disaster, but Marine Headquarters lost track of him. Gern appeared in Sabaody, killed two Celestial Dragons, and disappeared with their heads, leaving a declaration of war against the World Government.

  • Sengoku told Garp that Zephyr refused to intervene and asked him to use force to stop Gern if necessary.
  • A messenger reported that Marines had lost track of Gern and his ship in the Grand Line.
  • A communications officer reported that Gern had appeared in Sabaody Grove, killed two Celestial Dragons, and vanished with their heads.
  • Garp grabbed his justice coat and rushed out as Sengoku realized a catastrophe was beginning.
  • The Marine commodore in Sabaody recalled Gern's sudden arrival and swift attack, which left two headless Celestial Dragon corpses behind.

Ch. 317Before confronting external threats, secure the home front

After returning to the New World with Kuma and Hawk-Eye, Gern planned to turn his revenge for Enel into a campaign that would strengthen his faction. Before confronting the World Government, he decided to deal with a threat to his home front and asked Kuma to send him to the Whitebeard Pirates' Moby Dick.

  • Gern, Hawk-Eye, and Kuma arrived at a deserted island aboard Hoie after escaping Marine surveillance with Neptune's help.
  • Gern thanked Hoie for the journey, and the sea beast hurried back underwater, haunted by Gern's arrival at Ryugu Palace with two Celestial Dragons' heads.
  • Gern reflected on how Kuma's arrival completed his core team and resolved to use his revenge to make the world fear the Calamity Faction.
  • Hawk-Eye asked whether they would return to G-10, but Gern said he first needed to make someone behave and secure his power base.
  • Kuma, inspired by Gern's defiance of the World Government, hoped Gern could help rescue Ginny.
  • Gern asked Kuma to send him to the Whitebeard Pirates' Moby Dick.

Ch. 318Keep Quiet for a While, Whitebeard

Gern appeared aboard the Moby Dick, warned Whitebeard to stay out of an approaching conflict, and left after Mihawk blocked Whitebeard’s attack. After discovering the bloodied bundle held the heads of two Celestial Dragons, Whitebeard ordered his crews to avoid Gern’s territory and prepared to keep his family out of the coming clash.

  • Gern appeared on the Moby Dick and used his Haki to knock out many of Whitebeard’s crew before telling Whitebeard to stay quiet for a while.
  • Whitebeard attacked Gern with Murakumogiri, but Mihawk arrived and blocked the strike with Yoru.

  • Marco discovered that Gern’s bloodied bundle contained the heads of two Celestial Dragons killed at Sabaody.
  • Whitebeard ordered Marco to deliver the heads near Marineford and forbade his crews from approaching Gern’s G-10 territory without permission.

Ch. 319Bullet took on all the damage

Gern brought Kuma to the G-10 Main Base, where Kuma healed Enel by repelling his injuries and pain. Bullet chose to absorb the suffering himself, and Enel later woke to find Bullet bloodied but alive beside him.

  • Gern returned to the G-10 Main Base with Dracule Mihawk and Kuma, then brought Kuma to Enel's bedside.
  • Kuma used Ursus Shock to remove Enel's injuries and pain, explaining that someone had to willingly take them on.
  • Gern reached to absorb the pain, but Bullet rushed in and took all of Enel's injuries and suffering instead.
  • Gern left the room with the others, leaving Bullet to endure the pain as Enel recovered.
  • Enel woke at sunset, saw Bullet covered in blood, and heard Bullet dismiss him as nothing special.

Ch. 320Do you think I can't keep you here?

Gern confronted Kizaru in a secluded garden after ordering Tesoro and the others to carry out an urgent task. When Kizaru defended Marine Headquarters’ effort to stop him, Gern drew his Black Blade and threatened to keep Borsalino there, leaving a deadly clash poised to begin.

  • Gern sent Tesoro, Toritoma, Lipo, Kuma, Hawk-Eye, and the others away, then waited alone in a garden with tea prepared for Kizaru.
  • Kizaru appeared and asked whether Gern had considered recruiting him, but Gern demanded to know if Sengoku had sent him to stop his plans.
  • Kizaru warned that Marine Headquarters would not let Gern act recklessly, while Gern blamed the Holy Knights and the five in Pangaea Castle for attacking first.
  • When Kizaru mentioned that Enel had already been treated, Gern’s killing intent surged, and Kizaru fled as light to avoid an attack.
  • Gern’s Black Blade appeared at Kizaru’s throat after he re-formed, and Gern challenged Borsalino to see whether he could keep him there.
