The evening rankings were used to determine which players would die.
But the morning rankings gave the players in the bottom ten... an entire day to turn things around. They could choose to earn points by playing the attractions, or, like Liang Zhengjie, choose another path... one that seemed to require less effort.
In particular, the morning rankings did more than show these bottom-ten players where they stood. They also let them pick suitable "prey."
After all, choosing prey that was too powerful would only ensure the hunter never returned.
Each harboring their own thoughts, the players dispersed from the central plaza after the bottom-ranked players had been eliminated. Night had fallen, and it was time to find a Safe House to rest in. Apart from the four players lucky enough to survive the elimination, everyone headed toward the Safe Houses with excitement.
Safe Houses! Here they came!
One player excitedly inserted his Points Card into the slot by the door, rubbing his hands as he waited for it to open. Yesterday, he could only watch enviously. Today, he could finally stay inside!
A beep sounded, followed by a mechanical female voice. "Payment failed!"
The player rubbing his hands visibly froze.
Payment failed? That was impossible!
He hurriedly retrieved the Points Card that had been "spat" back out, looking down at it as he muttered, "That's impossible... that's impossible... how could the payment have failed?!"
He jabbed excitedly at the total points on his Points Card, then turned to ask the player waiting behind him, "Look! Look! There are definitely still points on my Points Card, right?!"
The player behind him leaned forward for a look. The number beneath Carousel on the first player's Points Card was 50, but the total points field beneath his name read "30."
"Huh?" He
