Unlike the leisurely pace he was used to when participating as a normal player, this was Su Bai's first time taking part in such a special game. Before he even had a chance to refuse, information about the estate flooded into his mind.
Apparently, no matter how politely the administrator spoke, this was still a compulsory task. Just what that compulsion meant for Su Bai, however, remained unknown.
As a player, Su Bai was actually a deeply contradictory person. Until a strange creature drove him into a corner, he habitually played a cautious role, keeping all his trump cards hidden and doing everything he could to clear the game in the safest, most reliable way. Su Bai no longer remembered where that habit had come from. He only vaguely recalled meeting several powerful but ostentatious players in his previous life, none of whom had ultimately escaped the Nightmare Game alive.
But once Su Bai was cornered, he would seize that last sliver of hope for survival and swear to reduce his enemies to ashes, even at a devastating cost to himself!
Take being dragged into this special game, for instance. While the outcome remained uncertain, Su Bai would participate in the safest way possible, just as he always had. He would even do his utmost to conceal his identity as the administrator had instructed, play his assigned role, and avoid being identified as the murderer.
Beneath Su Bai's usual calm and rationality, there had also always lurked a little curiosity, and even a mischievous streak. After all, he had never heard of a player being able to participate in a Beginner Game. Playing a character in one as part of a special task seemed, however he looked at it, like a relatively interesting diversion in this tedious Nightmare World.
