After retreating into the room, Su Bai caught a flash of cold light the instant he turned around. He sidestepped it and discovered that Xiao An was attacking him with an Ice Spike longer than half the little ghost's height.
Under the hotel room's yellowish light, the Ice Spike radiated an unmistakable chill and an eerie red glow. It was not a transparent spike frozen from ordinary water, but a ghostly object formed from frozen blood. Bloody light swirled inside it like flowing blood.
Held in Xiao An's hand like a blade, the Ice Spike thrust straight at Su Bai, trailing a terrifying chill.
"Mommy, Xiao An still feels so cold!"
Xiao An's expression was unmistakably the savage grimace of a Ghost Creature, yet its words seemed filled with pleading and obsession, as though it were describing some craving it could not suppress. Listening closely, one could even hear despair and helplessness in that young voice.
Su Bai had no idea why the little ghost before him had suddenly attacked. Any Strange Creature with half a brain should already have realized that his power was overwhelmingly superior to theirs.
Could it be... this little ghost wasn't right in the head?
Facing the incoming flash of cold light, Su Bai swiftly sidestepped and casually slapped aside the Ice Spike as Xiao An swung it back at him with startling speed. The moment he touched it, a faint stinging sensation ran through his hand.
Even with Su Bai's eyesight, he had failed to notice the numerous tiny, needle-like barbs hidden on the Ice Spike.
Those barbs did not injure him, however. Though the blood-colored Ice Spike contained traces of murky power that tried to invade his body... that power was far too weak, and the power within Su Bai was far stronger.
