At the start of the game, when Su Bai and the others stood in the mist outside the hotel, they could see that although the Happy Hotel had only four floors, each floor had plenty of windows. In other words, each floor had plenty of rooms.
Now, however, they were standing in an area on the hotel's second floor concealed behind a false wall. Six rooms in total were hidden on either side of the corridor, yet they had noticed nothing unusual while moving around the other floors...
That meant the walls at the ends of the third- and fourth-floor corridors were very likely false as well. Hidden spaces like this existed from the second floor to the fourth, and the strange creatures could even move freely within them. After all, besides the six rooms, there was also a staircase at the end of this hidden stretch of corridor.
The Happy Hotel's second and third floors had originally each had a staircase at either end of the corridor connecting the floors above and below, but the strange creatures had concealed one staircase along with a stretch of corridor. At any moment, they could use that staircase to move between the second and fourth floors without the players noticing a thing. That might have been how the bell-ringing waiters had appeared so suddenly earlier.
Imagining it from an observer's perspective, Su Bai felt as though the entire hotel had been "cut" into two parts. One side was where the human players and their "family members" moved around, while the other was the "home" of the strange creatures lurking in the shadows. Both sides lived next to each other on the same floors, yet the human players knew nothing about it.
Su Bai glanced back at the wall behind him. It still
