Su Bai took a short break by the Mist Shop's window. Through the glass, he spotted two familiar figures-Jiang Hong and Kong Rui. They were driving the car Qin Ge had used yesterday, and slowly pulled up outside the shop. Jiang Hong climbed out of the driver's seat, his expression as composed as ever, though a hint of urgency showed in his eyes. Kong Rui followed him, his steps steady and his expression betraying a certain anticipation.
Su Bai understood. Their intentions were far from simple, but they probably would not make a move against him just yet.
After all, Su Bai had promised yesterday that he would return to the Base to check on Sha Linghai and the Female Mutant. If they secretly abducted him now, he would be unable to fulfill that promise in front of Qin Ge.
Though the car was small, its trunk was spacious enough to hold Lin Wei and the Number One Sample, who lay on the Mist Shop's sofas. Su Bai had deliberately kept their bodily functions suspended, and he had no intention of restoring them before they reached the Base.
In the spirit of seeing a favor through to the end, Su Bai waved to Jiang Hong and Kong Rui, pointed at the sofas, and said with a smile, "Could you two help me move these sofas outside while you're at it? They're stained with mutant blood. It doesn't feel right to keep them in a shop that's open for business. Just dump them at the corner of that alley over there."
Su Bai gave neither man a chance to refuse, and he trusted that two men with ulterior motives would not turn him down.
Jiang Hong paused briefly, but soon nodded and said with his usual composure, "No problem, Mr. Su."
