"Is this a new Doll? It doesn't look as sturdy as the last one."
Su Bai's gaze settled on Wu Heng before him. With a searching expression, he carefully examined the junction between the man's head and neck.
Wu Heng's new Doll shell seemed light and delicate in texture, with a more elegant curve to its neck and finer facial contours. Still, Su Bai's keen attention caught the faint seam around the neck. Extremely thin though it was, it still betrayed the marks of a Doll.
Attaching the head had been surprisingly simple. Even Su Bai, who knew nothing about Dolls or puppetry, had just completed the entire procedure without instruction. All he had done was pick up Wu Heng's head, align it with the groove in the socket, and press it firmly into place. Then he had turned the head to face the right direction. "I tried a new technique." A trace of helplessness showed on Wu Heng's face. He lowered his eyes slightly, his slender fingers brushing over his neck in an elegant yet casual motion. "I wanted to use a lighter material to make a better, more tightly sealed vessel, but..."
Wu Heng's gaze shifted to his own shoulders.
"The joints and the head connection aren't as stable as before, especially after an impact."
"I hope you only lose parts when I'm around. If both your arms fall off, they won't be so easy to put back on." Su Bai spoke half in jest.
