"Hello, everyone. My name is Chen Jie.
I originally thought that once I awakened my contract martial soul, I could stop eating beef...
But only today did I realize that there was still an enormous gap between me and the truly top-tier powerhouses.
Tonight, I came so close...
Who could have expected Xiao Wu's divine sense to be inside Wang Dong's Sea of Consciousness?
Xiao Wu had gone and ruined a perfectly good thing. Just thinking about it made fury flare in my heart.
I swear that one day, I'll give Xiao Wu a thorough..."
Inside the Sumeru Micro-World.
Oh~ ho ho ho~
"Xiao Jie, will doing this really help you recover from your injuries?"
Jiang's Mother was already kneeling before Chen Jie. She looked up at him and asked softly.
A wicked smile curled Chen Jie's lips, and he nodded with a perfectly straight face.
"That's right. The Sumeru Micro-World is rich in spiritual energy, so my ability to heal myself is already greatly enhanced here. Add in the special effect of that photograph beside the memorial tablet and your attentive care, Sister Jiang, and the treatment will yield twice the results with half the effort."
As he finished speaking, his gaze slowly settled on Jiang's Mother.
Two snowy-white, docile little rabbits lay quietly against her chest.
A few damp strands of hair clung to her cheeks. Her figure was voluptuous and soft, her wet long hair draping over her shoulders, and a warm, languid air of maturity surrounded her.
Jiang's Mother's face flushed scarlet. She hurriedly lowered her head, not daring to meet Chen Jie's eyes.
With a few wet strands stuck to her face, she nervously clutched the hem of her clothes, flustered and ill at ease.
Seeing how shy she was, Chen Jie took the opportunity to ask, "Sister Jiang, we've known each other for so long, but I still don't know your name."
Bai Zhirou's lashes trembled. After a moment's hesitation, she answered quietly, "My name is Bai Zhirou."
Chen Jie silently repeated the name, a faint smile curling his lips. "Bai Zhirou. That's a lovely name. But I still prefer calling you Madam Jiang."
At his words, Bai Zhirou's ears instantly burned, lending her a particularly enticing charm.
Chen Jie deliberately tipped his chin toward the offering table and teased in a low voice, "Look. Your husband is watching us."
Bai Zhirou suddenly stiffened. Her cheeks turned so red they looked ready to bleed, and she cast a panicked glance at the photograph, so embarrassed she did not know what to do with herself.
She softly spat at Chen Jie, both embarrassed and annoyed. "Why are you making jokes about him? He's been gone for so long. We haven't been together in ages..."
Indeed, Bai Zhirou had lived alone all these years, keeping solitary vigil in an empty bedroom, enduring those endless nights in silence with no one beside her.
Chen Jie grinned wickedly and leaned closer, lowering his voice to tease her. "Then tell me honestly. Between him and me, who's better?"
Bai Zhirou's entire body abruptly stiffened, her face burning hot. She pressed her lips tightly together, unable to utter a single word, and hurriedly turned her head aside.
Chen Jie dropped his playful grin and spoke seriously. "Sister Jiang, thank you for taking such good care of me. I remember you have a lingering ailment. I recently obtained a very good medicine that might cure your old condition."
Bai Zhirou's cheeks flushed crimson. She glanced up at him, then hastily averted her eyes, her whole face scarlet. "Are there any prerequisites for using this medicine?"
Chen Jie looked at her calmly and said in a low voice, "Turn around."
Bai Zhirou paused, a trace of hesitation in her voice. "Turn around?"
"Yes." Chen Jie nodded, another mischievous smile curling his lips. "There's a particular way to use this medicine. You need to have your back to me when I administer it. Just keep your eyes on that photograph in front of you and leave everything else to me."
Bai Zhirou's heart suddenly raced, her entire face burning red, her body tense and flustered. She obediently turned around and braced both hands firmly against the edge of the table before her. Her fingertips dug into its surface, her body held rigidly straight, and she was too nervous to move.
Chen Jie took out a syringe, deftly drew up the medicine, and slowly walked behind her. Watching her faintly trembling shoulders, he said nothing and slowly bent closer.
The needle gently pierced her skin, and a faint sting slowly spread.
Bai Zhirou's body gave a sudden shudder. She instantly held her breath, her lips pressed tightly together, her panicked gaze settling on the photograph ahead. Her hands gripped the table ever tighter, her fingertips turning faintly white. Shy and flustered, she was so nervous that her whole body betrayed her helplessness.
Two hours later.
Oh~ hoh hoh hoh~
Once he had slowly finished injecting the medicine, Chen Jie carefully withdrew the needle.
Bai Zhirou braced both hands against the edge of the table and lowered her head to look at the wet photograph upon it. An ache rose in her heart, and tears kept falling, dripping onto the photograph and spreading into faint water stains.
A soothing warmth spread from the injection site and flowed through her entire body. Her meridians, once painfully blocked and prone to aching, had all opened up. The old ailment that had tormented her for so long felt markedly better, and her whole body felt light and unburdened. That warmth slowly gathered in her belly, and her once-flat lower abdomen gradually grew rounded.
Even as her body felt better, this strange change made her stiffen all over. Her face burned scarlet, and she trembled faintly with nerves, unsure what to do.
Just then, Chen Jie reached around from behind her and clasped both her hands on the tabletop in one of his.
His voice sounded beside her ear. "Madam Jiang, remember to calm your mind and thoroughly assimilate the medicine I just injected."
With that, Chen Jie released her hands and walked around to the front of the table. Looking at the memorial portrait, he said earnestly, "Rest assured, my late-husband brother. You won't have departed in vain. I'll help you take good care of both of them."
Early the next morning.
Sunlight streamed into the dormitory.
Wang Dong woke groggily, sat up, and rubbed her eyes. When she turned to look, Chen Jie was already gone.
Two steaming breakfasts sat on the table, with a note tucked beneath a plate.
Her head felt foggy. She vaguely remembered that something had been wrong yesterday. She had felt dizzy at the time, as though something had taken over her mind, and no matter how hard she tried, she could not remember the crucial details.
Strangely, though, thinking of Chen Jie instead stirred a trace of affection in her heart. The more she thought about him, the more she felt he was a good person, and warmth filled her heart.
Wang Dong picked up the note. It read: I bought this breakfast for you. No need to thank me.
Holding the note, she felt her face grow a little hot and muttered, "That guy really is a bastard."
Then she lowered her head to look at herself, and her heart suddenly clenched. What exactly did that bastard do to me yesterday?!
