"What are you two doing...?" Antonidas asked, looking a little puzzled.

Jaina smiled and answered, "Mage Rhode is teaching me Understand Language."

"Him? Teaching you...?" Confused by what he had heard, Antonidas strode over to the table.

After all, Jaina was his youngest disciple, and also the student he was proudest of.

She was naturally gifted and could grasp many spells with just a little guidance. Yet now she was saying she needed Rhode to teach her?

A flicker of jealousy flashed through Kael'thas's eyes.

What qualifications did this brat have to teach Jaina?

Jaina even seemed to admire Rhode.

How bizarre. As an elven prince, wasn't he outstanding in every respect, whether looks, background, or magical ability?

Losing out to Arthas, the prince of Lordaeron who came from an equally distinguished family, was one thing. But how could this nobody of a mage win more of Jaina's favor than he did?

"Oh, these are supporting diagrams for the Comprehend Languages spell?" Antonidas glanced at the table. "These diagrams..."

When learning more complicated spells, mages usually drew diagrams to help themselves understand them, much as solving geometry problems often required drawing auxiliary lines.

Rhode had drawn his diagrams hastily because he had little time, so Antonidas failed to make much sense of them at first glance.

"Hmm? Wait." Antonidas's eyes suddenly widened.

Ordinarily, a spell diagram was a fairly broad conceptual sketch, more of a rough draft than anything particularly detailed.

The diagrams on the table looked like illegible scrawls, yet every node and pathway was perfectly clear. Each section also had detailed annotations, even identifying possible derivative spells.

This was truly impressive!

With diagrams like these, learning magic would become far, far more efficient.
