"Everyone, follow me!" Rhode directed everyone toward the so-called "Secret Base."

The bombs had just been detonated, so there was no doubt that Oto and his men were hiding in the underground passages of the Secret Base.

After all, with destruction on that scale, it really was the safest place. They surely would not have dared detonate the bombs while they were somewhere outside.

But when Rhode and the others reached the little house that concealed the entrance, they happened to see the Syndicate members coming out through the door.

Clearly, now that the explosions were completely over, it was time for them to come out and inspect their "spoils."

Oto was now fully armed, dressed in black leather armor with two long blades strapped to his back. A smug expression graced his face as he walked out, chatting with an orc in a black mage robe beside him.

But when he saw Rhode riding Blue Melancholy, his smile vanished.

"How is that possible? You're still alive?" Oto slowly drew his two blades as he spoke.

Then he turned toward the orc, his expression ugly. "Nagaz, didn't you say the Fel Bomb was infinitely powerful, and nothing aboveground could survive?"

"Well..." Nagaz shook his head. "That is true in theory. This is the technology of our great Burning Legion, after all. Hmm... perhaps you were too impatient. They were still some distance from the center of the explosion..."

That confirmed it. This orc named Nagaz was an agent of the Burning Legion, and presumably a member of that so-called Argus Resurgence organization.

He had probably used some advanced Burning Legion technology to detonate the Fel Bomb remotely, setting off the Goblin Sapper Charges in turn. That was why finding any sort of fuse aboveground had been so difficult.
