Rhode and Lilia had barely taken a few steps when they discovered a narrow passage behind the hall. At its far end stood a locked door.
"Oh, they thought one little lock would stop us?" Rhode said to Lilia with a smile. "You open it."
"Sure!" Lilia answered briskly, then raised both swords and brought them down on the lock.
Clang! A sharp ring sounded, and silver light spilled from the lock.
Lilia looked closely, only to find that the lock was completely undamaged.
"Huh, there's something special about this lock. No wonder that damned professor kept mouthing off." Rhode stepped closer to examine it.
After all, with Lilia's current strength, an ordinary lock could never have withstood her blows.
The lock shone silver on the outside, as though it had been made from a silver ingot, but it certainly wasn't silver.
If it were, Lilia would have split it with a single strike.
"Must be a metal unique to Northrend... judging by the color, maybe cobalt or something," Rhode muttered. "Hmm... there's also what looks like a runic protective barrier around it. That's why it's so tough."
"What, you can't open it either, Rhode?" Lilia asked.
"You're kidding. You think a cobalt lock could stump me?" Rhode chuckled and extended his right hand toward it.
As the saying went, brute force worked miracles, and high heat did the trick. Was there anything extreme heat couldn't solve?
A searing jet of fire shot out and struck the lock directly.
At first, the lock seemed completely unaffected.
But a few seconds later, that changed.
As the flames grew hotter and hotter, the lock began to hiss, then started to... melt!
Click! Half the lock melted away, and it simply fell open.
"You're amazing, Rhode!" Lilia cried.
"Haha, let's go in." Rhode
