Amid a chorus of clanging hammer blows, Rhode struggled to open his eyes.

Everything was blurry. Where am I?

Oh, this probably isn't Captain Ironhill's office anymore. I'm lying in a bed.

Rubbing his eyes, Rhode sat up in bed.

Though he barely moved, sitting up made his brain feel like an egg with a broken yolk, sloshing around inside his skull. Dizziness washed over him, and his head felt ready to split.

Is this... a hangover?

Damn it, I cheated and still got this drunk!

It was hard to imagine what these dwarves' stomachs were made of, to hold that much hard liquor.

Rhode let out a pained groan, then sat motionless with his head bowed.

It took quite a while for the pain to slowly subside.

He carefully turned his head and surveyed his surroundings.

The room was simply furnished. Apart from a cabinet, a wooden table, and two beds, there was no other furniture.

Opposite the bed he sat on was a smaller bed, with Lilia lying on it.

A thin blanket covered her belly, and she was snoring softly.

Lilia got drunk too?

Children could never hold their liquor very well, and she wasn't a dwarf child.

Just then, a sharp pain shot through Rhode's throat, jolting his brain.

He instinctively licked his lips and searched the room.

Although it was in plain sight, his vacant gaze swept over it several times before he recognized the copper pitcher on the bedside cabinet as what he was looking for.

Still dazed, he grabbed the pitcher and gulped straight from its spout.

The cool liquid flowed down his parched throat, bringing an indescribable sense of relief.

He downed half the pitcher in one go before his whole body finally relaxed and his mind cleared, as though a soul
