Rhode built his influence and forces while investigating murders, developing magic, and forging alliances. He captured Caer Darrow and cleared Scholomance, then prepared to return and confront Blackmoore.

Arc 1From Farm to Sea

Rhode learned magic, hunted Yetius with Lilia, and earned money while helping Southshore. He and Lilia then boarded Captain Sander’s ship with Nat Pagle, where a powerful catch tugged at Nat’s line.

  • Rhode found Lilia stealing corn, took her in, and began learning magic with her help.
  • Rhode’s experiments with Fireball destroyed part of the Jade Mine, and he agreed to clear the rubble and compensate the workers.
  • Rhode and Lilia took a bounty to hunt Yetius, killed him and several yetis, and recovered Ruby Earrings that could store mana.
  • Rhode met Gixil on the road and later killed a Giant Spider, then claimed the bounties for Yetius and the spider.

Arc 2The Ruby Necklace Murders

Rhode expanded Southshore’s docks, joined Audric’s Tower as vice president, and began investigating a series of murders linked to stolen ruby necklaces. The investigation pointed toward a mage seeking a magical Ruby Necklace, while Rhode’s experiments with construct magic continued and Audric raised the subject of dark magic.

  • Rhode recruited Bumpelba, froze the sea to trap the attacking Naga, and brought the Murlocs to Southshore as allies before proposing a harbor expansion.
  • Rhode left Southshore with Lilia for Durnholde Keep, where Vern Audric recognized his Ruby Earrings, appointed him vice president, and offered him a position at the tower.
  • Rhode investigated the murder of a merchant family and suspected a mage, while Hearthglen and Blackmoore discussed Rhode’s unusual standing and planned to draw him into their circle.
  • Rhode studied construct magic, modified an Arcane Golem to follow more complex commands, and began developing a smaller reconnaissance construct.
  • After Lieutenant Drake reported another attack, Rhode rescued the surviving girl, Julie, and learned that her attacker had stolen the Ruby Necklace her father gave her.

Arc 3From Alex to Dun Garok

Rhode killed Alex, gained the Ruby Necklace, and accepted Blackmoore’s offer while secretly seeking a way to win Thrall’s trust. He built up his own forces, then traveled to Dun Garok, resolved a conflict over the Crown of Will, and began negotiating for muskets.

  • Rhode exposed Alex’s murders and killed him in the Deep Forest, then returned Julie’s Ruby Necklace and accepted it as a gift.
  • Rhode activated the Ruby jewelry’s set effect, learned Blink, and accepted Blackmoore’s offer of a military post while asking that Thrall train Lilia.
  • Rhode linked Spell Models to give his Arcane Golem combat abilities, then planned a Musket Corps and recruited commoners as magic apprentices.
  • Rhode helped Sally pursue priestly training and selected eighteen new magic apprentices, while Lilia trained with Thrall and learned warrior skills.

Arc 4The Fall of Caer Darrow

Rhode uncovered Blackmoore’s plan to have him killed, secretly won Hearthglen over, and marched on Caer Darrow with an unlikely army of musketeers, mages, soldiers, and ogres. After capturing the city and clearing Scholomance, Rhode prepared to return and confront Blackmoore.

  • Captain Ironhill sold Rhode a hundred Dwarf Muskets, and Goldfury escorted them to Durnholde Keep and trained the Musket Corps.
  • Jandice Barov attacked Rhode and Lilia for Alex’s death, but Lilia interrupted her spells and Rhode killed her.
  • Blackmoore ordered Major Drake to kill Rhode and his followers after the campaign, while Rhode spied on their plans and Drake later warned him of the assassination order.
  • Rhode convinced Hearthglen that he served Kel'Thuzad and persuaded him to avoid fighting, then set out with more than thirteen hundred troops for Caer Darrow.
  • Rhode gave Targ a copy of the Strange Cookbook, leading Targ and his ogres to pledge allegiance and join Rhode’s army.
  • Rhode’s forces stormed Caer Darrow, defeated Alex Barov, and accepted the defenders’ surrender without a massacre.
