"A Lord Soul Master from the Spirit Hall?"
Liu Jun froze, then remembered that today was the day a Spirit Hall Deacon came to the village to awaken the martial souls of children old enough for it.
His second son had just turned six and had gone to have his martial soul awakened too.
Could Yao have outstanding talent? Why else would a Spirit Hall Deacon come to their door in person?
Excitement surged through Liu Jun at the thought. He hurriedly set down the braised pork he had yet to finish dishing up, strode out of the kitchen, and entered the living room.
"You must be Liu Yao's father?" Su Yuntao asked first, smiling.
"That's right. You're Deacon Su Yuntao, aren't you? What brings you here?"
"Haha, rest assured, Mister Liu. It's good news. Your son awakened a mutated martial soul, and he has innate full soul power, something rarely seen even once in a hundred years!"
"Innate full soul power!"
Liu Jun shuddered all over, his eyes widening as he repeated the words in disbelief, trying to make sure he had heard correctly.
Su Yuntao's personal visit had led him to suspect his second son had great talent, but he had never imagined it would be this great.
Innate full soul power! That was the finest talent on the entire continent!
"That's right! Innate full soul power!" Su Yuntao naturally understood how Liu Jun felt and nodded with a smile.
With Su Yuntao's confirmation, Liu Jun's mind went completely blank. He suddenly turned and ran toward the bedroom.
"Honey! Honey! Did you hear that? Our child has innate full soul power! Innate full soul power! Hahahahaha..."
Liu Jun hugged Li Zhaodi in excitement, weeping with joy.
Ever since his leg had healed, something had been off about Li Zhaodi.
Only after asking her many times had he learned that she was worried people would gossip about him.
An able-bodied Soul Master had married a blind cripple like her, wasting his status as a Soul Master.
She was also afraid Liu Jun would start to despise her, or even abandon her.
Despite Liu Jun's repeated assurances that he would never abandon Li Zhaodi, she still felt uneasy and often had nightmares.
Now things were looking up. A Senior Soul Master had said their first child had exceptional talent, though that could not be made public yet.
But their second child's innate full soul power had been verified personally by a Spirit Hall Deacon. There was no need to hide that talent.
Now they would see who still dared to gossip!
"Honey, you gave birth to a child with innate full soul power! You don't have to worry anymore. If anyone dares gossip about us, I'll ask him whether his wife ever gave him a child with innate full soul power! Hahahaha..."
Feeling her husband's excited, burning sincerity, Li Zhaodi felt warmth spread through her heart. That last trace of worry finally dissolved, and crystalline tears involuntarily welled in her completely white eyes.
Su Yuntao was a little surprised by the scene, but he did not hurry them. After all, these were the parents of a future powerhouse; his tolerance could hardly have been greater.
At last, the two had hugged enough, their emotions settled, and reason returned.
"I'm terribly sorry. I lost my composure. I was just so excited that I couldn't help myself."
Liu Jun released his wife and bowed to Su Yuntao, his face full of apology.
"It's quite all right, Brother Liu Jun. Those were your genuine feelings."
Su Yuntao waved with a smile, then grew serious. "Brother Liu Jun, the main reason I came was to ask you and your wife whether you would let young Liu Yao join our Spirit Hall. With his talent, he'll certainly be sent to the Martial Soul Hall Headquarters. He might even catch the eye of His Holiness the Pope. His future prospects would be limitless!"
"Yes! Of course he'll join!" Liu Jun agreed without hesitation.
Ever since his leg had been crippled, he had survived entirely on the Spirit Hall's subsidies, even managing to marry and have children.
He was no white-eyed wolf who bit the hand that fed him. Now he had a chance to repay the Spirit Hall, and his child would be joining this holy land for Soul Masters, with a bright future ahead. Naturally, he would not refuse.
"Good. I'll go test the children in the last village first, then report your child's information this afternoon. Instructions from the Martial Soul Hall Headquarters should arrive within three days. I'll come back then."
Su Yuntao took his leave, thoroughly satisfied, and left Liu Yao's Martial Soul Certificate with them.
Ever since he had heard that his little brother had been found to possess innate full soul power and a mutated martial soul never seen before, Liu Hao had guessed that his brother would be invited to join the Spirit Hall.
He had no objections. In fact, he wholeheartedly approved, so he had remained quietly in the background, watching everything unfold.
After all, although the Spirit Hall had eventually been destroyed by Tang San and the others because of certain love-addled people's decisions, that was not the whole story.
Once the Spirit Hall disappeared, commoner Soul Masters received no subsidies unless they joined an empire, pledged their loyalty, and risked their lives for it.
In other words, the Spirit Hall provided welfare, whereas the great empires that came after its disappearance paid people to put their lives on the line.
That point alone was enough for Liu Hao to support the Spirit Hall, because it held the people in its heart!
Whoever held the people in their heart would have the people's support!
In the original Douluo World, the Spirit Hall would be destroyed by Tang San in another ten-odd years.
But now he was here, and he had brought his cheat with him.
Sea God? Asura God?
The moment the system simplification function activated, this world's future was no longer for those gods in the heavens to decide!
As for those love-addled fools in the Spirit Hall, hehehe...
Being love-addled is good. It's absolutely wonderful.
As long as I'm the one they're in love with, it won't be a problem anymore.
Bibi Dong, Hu Liena, Qian Renxue.
Just how breathtakingly beautiful will they be?
There was no hurry. He would keep a low profile and lie around for a few more years. Once he stood among the continent's strongest, he would go discover the answer himself.
After lunch, Liu Hao took a hoe and went out alone.
He was going to add a second Soul Ring to his martial soul.
His destination, however, was not a forest inhabited by soul beasts.
Instead, he went to a familiar spot on Bluestone Mountain, somewhere secluded, where numerous huge rocks blocked the view and made him difficult to spot.
It was not because a soul beast was hiding there, but because Liu Hao had used the system to simplify the method of obtaining Soul Rings.
What had once required hunting soul beasts of different ages had been simplified to: kill any living organism with a life value greater than 1 point to obtain the Soul Ring best suited to the host.
In other words, he no longer needed to risk his life hunting soul beasts in the Soul Beast Forest.
He only needed to dig up a tree, kill a chicken, smash a snake to death, or something similar to obtain an effect akin to a god-bestowed Soul Ring!
As it happened, a little tree as tall as a person grew in this secluded spot, its trunk only three fingers thick.
Liu Hao swung his hoe. With his Soul Grandmaster physique, further enhanced by the system, he dug the little tree out in just a few strokes.
A moment later, green light appeared around the tree, rapidly gathering into a small, translucent pale-green bead. At the same time, the tree vanished completely.
Liu Hao reached out and grasped the green bead, swallowed it in one gulp, then lay flat on the ground, letting his body circulate soul power and guide the bead's energy through him until it fully merged with his martial soul.
Naturally, after the system's simplification, absorption did not take long.
In less than a minute, the bead containing life energy had been completely absorbed.
He had not even released his martial soul; the Soul Ring formed directly within him.
This method of forming Soul Rings did have a drawback, however: it did not increase his soul power level.
Still, that was hardly an issue. With the system, his level was already rising fast enough.
He did not need those few extra levels of soul power from a Soul Ring.
After obtaining his new Soul Ring, Liu Hao immediately summoned his martial soul.
A Long Staff appeared in his hand, emerald-green from end to end, roughly two meters long and as thick as his wrist. Two purple, thousand-year Soul Rings emerged beneath his feet, slowly revolving and pulsing.
