Personality

Yan Shaozhe is calculating and reluctant to part with valuable resources. His initial compensation offer to Lin Xuanchen is intended to settle the dispute with small favors and use Shrek’s prestige to secure the student’s loyalty. Mu En later privately characterizes him as petty and constantly scheming like an unscrupulous merchant 8 53.

His courteous manner can quickly give way to anger. Lin Xuanchen repeatedly provokes him into shouting, but threats to transfer to the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy force him to retreat from demands and make concessions. He abandons both an expulsion threat and an Inner Academy assessment rather than lose exceptionally talented students to Shrek’s rival 9 48 49.

Protecting the academy’s interests takes precedence over treating students equally. History

Compensation Dispute

Du Weilun brings Lin Xuanchen to Yan Shaozhe after Zhou Yi’s treatment nearly drives the new student out of Shrek. Yan acknowledges the academy’s negligence in training Zhou Yi and offers compensation. Lin demands Soul Bones, Immortal Herbs, rank-eight or rank-nine Soul Tools, and the Emperor Auspicious Beast as a pet; Yan rejects the demands as excessive 8.

After Lin threatens to attend another academy, particularly the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy, Yan agrees to supply ingredients from three prescriptions. He realizes the cost only after Lin leaves: one prescription requires two fifth-tier magic cores, each equivalent to a fifty-thousand-year Soul Bone 9.

Ma Xiaotao’s Injury

He orders an expanded search but also prepares a cover story. If Wang Dong’er cannot be found, the academy is to suppress the news until the semester break, allowing it to claim she disappeared after leaving Shrek 19.

Return and Inner Academy Admission

At the start of the next academic year, Lin kicks apart Yan’s office door, startling him into spilling scalding tea onto his crotch. Yan threatens to expel both students for their behavior and missed Freshman Assessment, then reverses himself when Lin proposes taking Wang Dong’er to Shrek’s rival 48.
