Background / History

Sect Upbringing and the Broken Engagement

Ning Tian grew up as the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect’s heir, studying aristocratic etiquette and social graces from childhood. Ning Zhiyuan served as her model for leadership, and she was taught to place the sect’s interests above personal feelings. Wu Feng and her later attendant, Fu Yu, both grew up alongside her 7 38 39.

She initially approved of Wu Feng’s arranged marriage to Su Yuan, believing his steady temperament and Frost Dragon Martial Soul made him a suitable match. When Wu Feng revealed that she had unilaterally broken the engagement, Ning Tian reprimanded her and investigated Su Yuan’s unexpectedly calm response 2.

Recognizing the damage the incident could do to the sect’s credibility, Ning Tian persuaded her father to spare Wu Feng punishment and personally accompanied her to apologize. She acknowledged the sect’s unfair treatment of Su Yuan and offered compensation worth up to 100,000 Gold Soul Coins, allowing him three days to choose his request. Su Yuan suspected that part of the offer would come from Ning Tian’s own funds, but this was his interpretation rather than a confirmed arrangement 3 4 5.

After Wang Xian’er took Su Yuan away, Ning Zhiyuan decided that Wu Feng’s impulsiveness made her unsuitable as Ning Tian’s trusted companion. Ning Tian reluctantly accepted the replacement, choosing the sect’s future over her attachment to her childhood friend. Her father also explained the sect’s structural problems and promised to address them before she inherited leadership 6 7.

Reunion and Shrek Enrollment

At a Star Luo City gathering, Ning Tian reunited with Su Yuan and introduced Fu Yu as her attendant. Seeing his improved circumstances made her regret the opportunity the sect had lost. She also noticed his lack of attraction to her and began considering a more feminine appearance 38 39.

Before starting at Shrek, she used medicinal herbs to grow her hair and adopted a new style arranged by Fu Mengyu. She entered Freshman Class Nine as one of its two Soul Elders. Du Weilun had considered moving her to Class One, but decided against exposing a promising support-type student to Zhou Yi’s teaching methods 52 53 54.

Mu Jin appointed Ning Tian class monitor. Unlike Su Yuan, who declined the responsibility, she valued the position’s prestige as a means of recruiting talented students for her sect 55.

Freshman Assessment and Recruitment

Ning Tian joined Su Yuan and Fu Mengyu for the Freshman Assessment, forming a balanced team of attacker, controller, and support. She enhanced Su Yuan against Dai Huabin’s team and supported both teammates in the finals against Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong, and Nanmen Yun’er. Their team won the championship 57 60 62 64 66.

Following the assessment, she moved into the reorganized Class One and retained the monitor position. By the next year’s Promotion Assessment, she had redirected her attention from pursuing Su Yuan to strengthening her sect, recruiting promising students with Fu Mengyu’s help 67 90.

Her affection for Wu Feng initially makes her protective and indulgent, but she can subordinate that affection to the sect’s needs.
