The door to the West Side Courtyard was flung open.
Yun Sheng flashed into the Front Courtyard.
Changqingzi was already standing there. The old man's cloudy eyes were fixed on the clearing behind the Main Courtyard. His Nascent Soul aura fluctuated wildly, and his chest heaved.
They exchanged a glance. Both saw the horror in the other's eyes.
"You sensed it too, Senior?" Yun Sheng asked in a low voice.

Footsteps came from behind the Main Courtyard.

Chen Lin let go. The ground shook violently.
The corpse of a fifteen-meter beast resembling a cross between a lion and a tiger crashed onto the bluestone paving.
Its dark golden scales gleamed with a cold metallic sheen in the moonlight. Even in death, the savage, murderous aura of a fifth-tier greater demon manifested as tangible gusts, sending the courtyard's leaves rustling.
Yun Sheng stopped breathing.
She recognized it.
"A Core Formation demon beast?" Yun Sheng's voice changed completely, her cool façade shattering on the spot. "The spiritual veins have been severed. How could an intact Core Formation Great Demon still exist?"
Changqingzi strode forward in two steps. His withered palm brushed the beast's hard scales, and his fingertips recoiled as though shocked.
"Its vital energy hasn't dispersed. Its flesh is still viable. It's been dead for no more than an hour!" Changqingzi whipped his head toward Chen Lin, undisguised terror filling his eyes.
An hour ago, his master had clearly been in the Quiet Chamber and hadn't come out.

"Making a fuss over nothing." Chen Lin dusted off his hands. "Changqingzi, get
