A familiar figure staggered out through the doorway.

His face was as pale as paper, his forehead drenched in cold sweat. His steps were unsteady, his usual composure and calm nowhere to be seen.
"Yun Sheng..." Chen Lin's eyes lit up when he saw Yun Sheng in the courtyard. As though he had found his lifeline, he stumbled toward her.
"Boss, what's wrong?" Yun Sheng hurried forward and caught his arm.

He stared fixedly at Yun Sheng, his eyes glowing a dangerous red.
"I need treatment now." Chen Lin breathed heavily, his scorching breath washing over Yun Sheng's neck.
Yun Sheng's heart skipped a beat.
Images flashed through her mind of the East China Sea Battlefield, when Chen Lin had exhausted his divine sense fighting the Heaven-Swallowing Beast. She had willingly given herself to him for dual cultivation, using the Phoenix Yin-Yang Essence Cultivation Art to repair his sea of consciousness.
She had never spoken to anyone of that night, but the shudders and dependence etched deep into her bones could never be erased.
