I had always been a person with grand ambitions, someone who wanted to change the world and change myself...
Now, influenced by the old Taoist and moved by what stirred in my heart, I slowly slipped into a peculiar stillness.
Without realizing it, I emptied my mind, and every pore slowly opened.
My body gradually merged with the vast void and everything within it.
I was no longer myself. I had vanished.
At the same time, everything was me. I was everywhere.
It was a feeling that words could hardly describe.
Master held his hand above the Baihui Acupoint at the crown of my head.
In an instant, I felt a soft, warm light flow into my body.
It brushed through me as gently as a kitten's tail, full of languid grace.
Master turned his hand over and lightly tapped the space between my eyebrows.
It was as though he had installed a huge virtual screen between my brows.
It had no edges, was three-dimensional, shone with light, and could extend endlessly.
The entire world was contained within that virtual screen.
With a thought, I could shift my view at will and magnify the details of any spot.
I lost myself in that indescribably wonderful sensation.
After who knew how long, I heard Master say softly, "This is your destined opportunity. I've opened your Heavenly Eye.
"Your fate is unusual. You can't return to our sect for a long period of quiet cultivation like your fellow disciples.
"Many heaven-sent encounters await you.
"They're waiting for you to experience them, to transform them and guide them toward resolution.
"As long as you always keep morality and virtue in mind, your future will be limitless."
Little Bun was so envious that she was practically drooling.
Fortunately, she knew how to behave at a moment like this. She merely watched with envy and said nothing.
"I'll remember, Master." I nodded solemnly, giving him my word.
I had no idea how much time passed. I remained immersed in that miraculous sensation.
It felt as though I were the only person left between heaven and earth.
The bustling airport, with all its people coming and going, seemed to have ceased to exist.
In that world, there was no concept of time...
After a very, very long time, I finally came back to my senses.
Only then did I discover that the old Taoist had drifted away...
Far in the distance, I could just make out his back, almost out of sight.
I suddenly snapped fully awake, remembering something important! Important! Extremely important!
I slapped the table and sprang to my feet, shouting desperately after him, "Master, at least tell me your name! Whose disciple am I?"
The old Taoist didn't turn around. He merely waved a hand dismissively.
"Master, I want to learn how to catch ghosts, too..." I shouted, throwing caution to the wind.
I had taken a Taoist master, after all! If I couldn't tell fortunes for people, I should at least learn something I could show off!
The old Taoist gently waved his hand again, then his figure vanished into the distance, out of sight...
I sighed in frustration and slumped back into my seat.
Then I noticed that the clamor of the bustling airport had abruptly stopped. Everything had suddenly gone quiet...
Everyone in the airport was staring! At! Me!!!
Some looked curious, some amused, some stunned, and some disdainful. They were all looking at me like I was an idiot...
One second, two seconds, three seconds...
That little spark of transcendent joy I had felt just moments earlier vanished in an instant.
I wanted to cry, but no tears would come.
Right then, I wished I could find a crack in the floor and crawl into it!
With every eye on me, it was so, so, so humiliating!
I felt as though I were sitting on needles and simply couldn't stay put. I whispered to Little Bun, "I'm going outside for some air."
Little Bun smiled at me and said, "After sitting for so long, I could use a little walk, too. Let's go together."
Before you continue
