Lynn clenched his teeth. His surging psionics made the entire building rumble and shake, yet nowhere in those jumbled memories could he find the scene of this man killing Lady Blood Cloak and her daughter with his own hands a century ago.
BOOM-
A thunderous crash rang out.
The surrounding furniture and bed instantly turned to dust in the overflowing psionics.
The old man gasped violently for breath. Had Lynn not been maintaining his vital signs throughout, his current physical condition would surely have sent him to his grave long ago.
Lynn's gaze flickered wildly, his clenched fists cracking as though they might strike sparks.
He had found nothing...
But why?!
Had old age and years of dementia really destroyed those memories from a century ago completely?!
No!
Something had to be wrong!
He refused to believe this was how it ended! He absolutely refused!
White Night walked over to him. Looking at the old man, whom Lynn had already tormented into agonized convulsions, he took a deep breath and spoke softly, his feelings conflicted:
"Lynn, calm down first."
"I know this hurts. It hurts me too. But at this point, no matter how much we wish otherwise, there's little we can change... Our people already examined his soul, but after decades of erosion, I'm afraid those old memories really are beyond recovery..."
Because he really was too old.
So old that illness had worn those memories away in the long river of time.
What remained here had long since become a useless shell.
"All we can say is that fate played a cruel trick on us. Had we come a decade or so earlier, perhaps things really would have ended differently... But now..."
White Night took a deep breath and turned away
