At the very moment Lynn appeared, the rift expanded again, growing to nearly a dozen meters across.

All the Polluters noticed him as well. Their expressions twisted viciously as they swarmed toward him, trying to overwhelm him with sheer numbers and kill their target right there.
But at that moment, Lynn knew no fear.
He plunged into their ranks like a tiger among sheep, every sweep of the Chainsaw in his hands killing several Polluters.
His Chainsaw had long since entered overclock mode, its deafening roar like a fire dragon's wrath as it reaped every life before him.

At some point, the system's notifications had begun ringing in his ears.
It seemed that as Lynn continued slaughtering these invaders from outside time, the system was gradually recovering many of its normal functions.

As though sensing that the target they sought was right before them, the Polluters inside the rift accelerated their world-breaking efforts. Some even tore apart the Polluters ahead of them as they fought to rush out.
