"Is it over?"
The Clown Doll floated beside him, murmuring as he looked at it all.
"It's over."
Lynn looked up as he spoke.
Yes.
This was the man who had chased them all across the Endless Sea. Someone who might never have made even the slightest ripple on the stage of history had driven them to the very end of their rope.
How could there be any joy in victory?
And no one would remember the names of the King Beasts who had died.
Their comrades had forgotten them. Those who had lived through this war had forgotten them. There had even been a moment when he himself had nearly forgotten, in a daze, why they had died here.
"But at least..."
Clown turned to Lynn and tried to comfort him.
"We saved all the King Beasts. Only one died in battle. Our losses really weren't..."
Lynn said nothing.
As the current brushed across his cheek, Clown stood there in a daze.
He looked toward the distant, lightless Abyss, toward the Chaos Creatures that would soon take shape. Suddenly, he seemed to realize something, and his mouth fell open.
"Why are there Chaos Creatures here... I think I..."
Oblivion.
It came without a sound.
And left no trace.
When Lynn turned to look at him, blood threaded through his eyes.
"Four. Four King Beasts died for us in this war. Four. They could have been our brothers."
Clown's mouth hung open.
For a long time, he could not speak. He could only hover there, stunned.
But he felt no sorrow.
He could remember nothing about them.
Even the word "four" seemed like a candle's flickering shadow in the wind, ready to vanish from his memory at any moment.
"You still remember?"
Clown finally asked, dazed.
"I told you once.
