The spectral figures looked as miserable as if they had swallowed flies.
Only after a long while did anything happen.
The knight seated high upon the Throne turned toward him. Beneath the helmet that hid his face, there seemed to be the faintest hint of an aged smile as he said:
"What brings you here?"
Beside him.
One of the spectral figures seated at the very front of the benches on either side stared urgently at Lynn in the doorway. Countless indescribably complex emotions seemed to flicker in his eyes. He tried to stand, but the knight in the seat of honor quickly stopped him.
He glanced at him and shook his head slightly.
The spectral figure sat down, his gaze distant, memories from an eternity of years flickering in his eyes.
Holding his Monocle, Lynn quickly scanned the spectral figures present. A few were Jailers he had seen in that azure world before, while several seated closer to the front were unfamiliar to him. The void obscured their faces, preventing him from seeing them.
Lynn glanced around and got straight to the point:
"I came for my Miss Azephala. I forgot to ask earlier-where did you hide her? You're not planning to keep her from me, are you?"
The aged knight smiled.
"In a peculiar world."
"You could also call it a contingency of mine. Had you failed in this rebellion, my trident would have pulled you inside at the last moment to preserve your life. But you performed splendidly, so that world never had a chance to serve its purpose."
Lynn stared with dead-fish eyes.
"Well, thanks for that."
"..."
The aged knight said nothing more, merely smiling. The space around him suddenly warped, and then a powerful aura radiating primordial power spread outward.
