Her will, too, briefly flickered out of true.
A shrill metallic noise seemed to stretch into a long screech in her ears, making her feel as though her personality was on the verge of collapsing completely. Her entire body shook violently.
She gradually adapted to the terrifying effects of the Meme Virus inside her. Perhaps because she had only just undergone a large-scale disintegration, her adaptability was noticeably lower than that of the other Light Banquets. By the time she opened her eyes and regained consciousness, she was the only mid-tier Light Banquet left in the entire Data Space.
The other Light Banquets had long since disappeared, returning to their respective terminals.
Footsteps approached.
Panting, she instinctively raised her head and saw the highest-tier Light Banquet who had spoken earlier standing before her, extending a slender, fair hand.
"Having a hard time adjusting, aren't you-sister-"
Light Banquet's heart jolted.
Her first reaction was that her betrayal had been discovered, or that her behavior had drawn this High-Rank Light Banquet's attention.
But she quickly dismissed that suspicion.
There was no hostility in those eyes identical to her own. It seemed to be nothing more than pure concern, concern for the other individuals split off from herself.
"I'm fine-"
She adjusted her expression and demeanor, then stood up.
In the empty Data Space, two girls identical in hair, face, height, and even presence stood facing each other. Or rather, they had always been identical beings split off from a single individual. They were both Light Banquet.
The High-Rank Light Banquet gazed at her and said:
"I checked your code-in terms of location-you should be the terminal consciousness closest to the surface in our base-thank you for your hard work-you face greater pressure than any of our sisters-"
